The Compendium of Curiosities Challenge has been running for two weeks this time, due to the larger creative nature of the project....Configurations. I was fortunate to work on my Christmasy version riverside over the July 4th week while watching my children play in the Guadalupe River in the Texas Hill Country. Swimmers by looked at me strangely, but I didn't care. It was a great craft space to say the least, and my children actually enjoyed me working for a change! It was strange to be singing Christmas songs in my head while soaking up 90+ degree rays, but the scenery really did provide me with great inspiration.
My tray is not the usual Tim Configurations Tray. I found this solid wood one at a flea market in The Big Apple, and definitely reconfigured it to fit my New York City at Christmastime mementos. I have been fortunate enough to visit there twice during the holiday season, and have collected several items reminding me of my time. They needed to be showcased, and Tim's way really highlights these special tokens.Warning: TOO MANY photos!!!

Anita, this is STUNNING! All of the photos are appreciated because it gives us the opportunity to see all of the wonderful details. What a lovely keepsake you've created!
ReplyDeleteWow Anita. This is GORGEOUS. This is a real labour of love and in sunshine and heat too (currently trying hard to remember what sunshine and heat is right now!)! Love the tray too. I may be picking your brains in a year or so as my friend and I are planning a trip to the Big Apple during Christmas season for our "special" birthdays! Any craft shops to speak of?
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond awesome. I especially love the red Kris Kringle costumed doll and the big red shoe. So many delightful surprises to look at!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas in July! Totally AWESOME! Love all the little goodies! I enjoyed working on my first CB and now will have to do up another!
ReplyDeleteThis is so COOL! Wow wow wow!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Nothing like Christmas in NYC!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Goodness. This is seriously the best configurations box I have ever seen, and I have looked at a lot. I keep looking, because in my heart of hearts, I wish I could create one. But, I can't imagine that I could have a project ongoing long enough to do something this detailed and complex. I am too task-oriented and need to have an end in sight, WHEN I start! But this is just incredible.
ReplyDeleteWonderfull elements and the configuration, Anita!! the girl in the Radio City Music Hall is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteWow, Anita, this is fabulous!! So much fun to look at all of your embellies! Great job!
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS !!! Wow Anita this is a stunning piece and a brilliant way to show all your mementos from trips to NY. Good luck in the challenges. I hope to have my pc linked up tomorrow, catch up then. Fantastic piece x

Simply love everything about it, the whole look and feel of it, and what a clever idea to work on it by the lake. Thank you so much for joining us at Simon Says Stamp and Show! Hugs, Sandra
ReplyDeleteThis is so wonderful and I can't believe all the absolutely perfect mementos you found to put in the tray! love, love, love it
ReplyDeleteLove the red glittery shoe! Really a fantastic box and a wonderful Merry display!
ReplyDeleteWOW WOW WOW. You hit this one out of the ballpark. Where did you find all this stuff? I need a tutorial for what to do on my next vacation!
ReplyDeleteAnita, this is a stunning piece of art! And I'm not a bit prejudiced because I'm a NYer! I'd love it anyway, but yes, the theme is special to me. Not only did you fill the compartments with mementos of your trips, but what fabulous things they are! I have to know....did you make that beaded taxi and the Broadway sign? I couldn't stop staring at them. If you didn't make them, could you tell me where you found them?
ReplyDeleteI'm viewing this after learning you were the big winner, and I have to say, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.
Wow! Anita this is stunning!! Very original theme, which i love!! Loads of detail that draws the eye again and again...love it! Trish x
