Tim Holtz Stamptember 2023 - Christmas Card Set

Hello All! Today was the release of the Simon Says Stamp Stamptember Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous Stamp Collection, which this year included two stencils, and small jars of the new Glow Distress Grit Paste and Sparkle Distress Texture Paste from Ranger. I was so honored to be asked to make a project for the release, and I had such making these whimsical Christmas cards.  The images on the set are so so FUN, and I love the addition of a few snarky sentiments. Enjoy!
Cut Distress White Heavystock from Ranger to 4 x 6" for as many card fronts as you want to make (I made 4 different designs). Take the second to largest circle from the Sizzix Stitched Circles Framelits and place it in the very center of the one of the papers, and die cut. You can use a pencil to mark where the center is and the edges of the circle to help. Do all the card fronts with the die, and set the circles aside for now. Take the new stamp set and using the mittens, all three stockings, and snow flurries images, place them onto one of the card fronts so the mittens are on the top left side and snow next to it in the center all at the top (you will be stamping another mitten on the right) and all three stockings are at the bottom equally centered. Take the arrow looking pine tree from the Festive Print Stamp Set, and place it below the mittens about 1/2 inch down (you will be stamping another directly across, and then two more above the stockings later). Use a ruler and pencil to mark where to make a line under the mittens and snow, then under the arrow tree, then above the stockings, then above where the other row of arrow trees will be. Go ahead and place the paper into the stamp platform and close the lid to secure those stamps. Remove the paper and lightly draw the lines with the pencil and ruler. Using a scrap paper for a straight edge mask, color in the top and bottom lines with Festive Berries Distress Ink and an Ink Blending Tool, then the lines under those with Twisted Citron, and the middle part with Speckled Egg Distress for a colorblocked look. Repeat doing all the rest of the papers.

Place one of the papers into the platform and stamp the images with Glacier White Pigment Ink (It's a good idea to reink the pad beforehand so it is nice and saturated. Stamp the images a few times so they are nice and white. Repeat with the other papers keeping them separated for the ink to dry as it stays wetter longer. Remove the snow flurries and all the stockings as you are finished with those, and then move the mittens over to the right, as well as the arrow tree. Stamp those now on all the papers. Remove the mittens as you are finished with those, and move the arrow tree down to the other row, and stamp this on all the papers, then repeat again stamping it on the opposite side doing all the papers. Set those aside to dry.
Taking the die cut circles now, place one into the platform and then place one of the main stamp images on the circle centering it. Close the lid to adhere the stamp. Stamp the image with Black Soot Archival a few times to make sure the images are nice and crisp. Remove and do the next one on another circle. When you do the presents and sweater, stamp the presents first, then onto a sticky note, cut that out, and place over the presents to mask then stamp the sweater over.

Take a black fine tip permanent pen and draw a wavy line across for the Santa and snowman that will divide snowy land and sky. Add a few lines under the snowman and Santa's feet for snowy build up. Finish drawing the rest of the reindeers body on the other side of the wreath, and then a dividing line for land and sky, and a line straight up from the wreath like it's hanging from it. Color in the sky on the reindeer and snowman with a Speckled Egg Distress Watercolor Pencil and a Broad Water Brush, as well as the area around the sweater and presents, but don't extend the color over the cut and embossed stitching around the circles. Take the star stencil and a yellow pencil with Detail Water Brush and add stars around the sweater and around Santa. Take the flurries stencil and a light blue pencil and brush and add flurries around the snowman and reindeer. Color in the rest of the images with the pencils and water brush. For the snow areas only add light blue lines tracings around the black lines leaving the snow white. For Santa's sky, use the Black Soot Pencil and color around the stars. Take the stencils again and a small paint brush and brush the Sparkle Distress Texture Paste through the stencil over all the stars and flurries. Then add more Sparkle to the snow areas, Santa's hat and the snowman's body. Using a red crayon and brush color in the triangle parts of the border stitching leaving the very outer border white. Let dry.
Cut and fold a Kraft Cardstock base card to 4.75 x 6.75 inches, and ink the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. Cut a black cardstock mat to 4.5 x 6.5 and mount to center of card base with two sided tape. Cut a white cardstock mat to 4.25 x 6.25 inches and mount to black. Take the colorblock piece, and ink the edges with Gathered Twigs and then mount onto the white. Mount the circle to the middle. Use the black pen to draw in lines between the colorblocking to look like stitching, and do the same over the cut lines on the circle. Shake up colors of Distress Mica Stain and pour a tiny bit out and use the Detail Water Brush to color in some parts of each image, like the bows on the presents, Santa's boots, belt and buckle, the snowman's hat, the ornaments on the wreath. Stamp the sentiments onto Vellum with Black Soot, and cut apart leaving space on each side. Fish tail cut the left side and add a tiny piece of two sided tape to the right side and adhere to the right side of the card front. Add two sided tape to the bottom of a light blue drop, and place that over the tape part under the sentiment.

Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous Christmas 2023 - Festive Print Ticking Christmas Cards with Removable Snow Globe Ornament

Hello Everyone! The Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous Christmas Release LIVE is still playing, and oh my word is it ever so inspiring! The makes are beyond fabulous and all so different using the same five sets...always impresses me so much. Here is one of my makes from the LIVE, featuring the Festive Print and Ticking and Grain Stamp Sets plus the Twinkle Mini Layering Stencil. I thought is would be so fun to add the gift onto the card, so I added a magnetic Snow Globe Ornament to the front that can be taken off and hung and then placed back on after the holidays for storage. I think it would be so fun to receive this. Hope you enjoy!
(For two cards) In order to figure out the sizing on the snow globe, I played around with the 2.5" Circle Shaker Domes and the Stitched Circles Framelits from Sizzix, along with the two snow globe images on the Festive Print Stamp Set. Of the 6 Stitched Circles you will need #3 and #4 (from littlest to biggest). Using #4, die cut two circles using Distress Watercolor Cardstock from Ranger, then two more but this time add two sided tape on the back before you die cut. Set the two without tape aside. For the two with tape, add the smaller #3 die in the center and die cut so you will have one small circle and a frame for both pieces. Set the two frame pieces aside. Take the two smaller circles and stamp a snow globe image onto each using Speckled Egg Archival from Ranger, centering the images best as you can. Set all these aside for now. (I set these aside to figure out my card front from here, but you can continue on with Step 6 to finish these if you want and then come back to the card.) Note: I also stamped two small houses with the heart, but I wasn't sure at this point if I was going to add them to the snow globes.

Using a piece of scrap paper, cut it to 3 5/8 x 5 1/8", and then die cut the #4 Stitched Circle from the very center, to use both of these as a mask. Cut two pieces of Distress Watercolor to 3 5/8 x 5 1/8" for the card fronts. Place the frame mask on one, and ink in the circle with Speckled Egg Archival with an Ink Blending Tool, and then do the other. Place one in a stamp platform and add the Ticking Background Stamp over and close the door to secure it. Place the circle mask over the inked circle and stamp the Ticking over with the Speckled Egg, and repeat with the other. You are finished with the Ticking. Place the circle mask over the inked circle and lightly ink around the circle mask with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and an Ink Blending Tool to create a light halo around, and then do the other. Ink the edges of both card fronts with the Gathered Twigs.
Place the frame over one of the card front and lay on a paper towel or in a spraying box. Shake up both Frozen Fog and Winterfrost Distress Mica Stains, and then lightly mist each over the circle. Let the mask dry a bit and then repeat with the other. Clean the nozzles of both to prevent clogging later.

Place one of the card front into a platform and add the moon, stars, a house, and two trees to create a scene, and close to secure the stamps. Pounce over the card with an Anti-Static Pouch to prevent powder sticking where you don't want. Lay the frame mask over to expose only the circle. Stamp the images with Speckled Egg Distress Ink or Archival a few times to get plenty of ink down, and then quickly remove the mask and pour White Embossing Powder over. Tap off excess and heat emboss with a heat gun. Repeat with the other card front. Select a sentiment from the stamp set and stamp it below the circle in Speckled Egg and this time pour Speckled Egg Embossing Glaze over, and then heat set. Do the other, and then you are finished with the stamping on the card front. Lay the circle mask over the center, and then lay the Mini Twinkle Layering Stencil over the left side. Ink in any of the images with Speckled Egg Archival to form a border around the circle and sentiment, and then leaving the stencil in place, use a palette knife and the Sparkle Distress Texture Paste and apply the paste over the inked stars. Remove the stencil and clean and wipe any paste from the circle mask. Let dry completely, and then do the other side. Repeat with the other card front.
Use a bit of Picket Fence Distress Paint to paint in a white snowy area between the tree bottoms and the bottom edge of the house. Let dry, then apply Snowfall Distress Grit Paste over the white area and anywhere else you'd like. Let dry. Use a brown permanent pen to draw a line around the circle to make a border. Cut and fold a Kraft Cardstock base card to 4 x 5.5" times two, and ink the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  Cut a Silver Sparkle Classic Kraftstock piece to 3 7/8 x 5 3/8" times two, and ink those edges. Then run a distress tool around the edges of the silver. Add two sided tape to the back and add these to the card bases. Take one of the mini craft magnets and adhere it to the center of the Silver Kraftstock with a bit of two sided tape, using the frame mask to help you locate the center. Then add the card front on with two sided tape, centering on the silver. Do the other, and then set these aside.
(Back to the snow globe.) Take the two small circles with the snow globe images, and color the sky in a little darker with the Winterfrost and Frozen Fog Distress Mica Stains with a Detail Water Brush. Add watered down Frozen Fog to the moon, stars, and all snowy areas. Use Distress Watercolor Pencils and a Detail Water Brush to color in the mountains, trees, and houses. Outline with a brown and black pen, and add white details with a white pen. Color in one small heart house and cut out, and adhere to the mountain scene on the right. Use a small brush and add Sparkle Texture Paste to all the snowy areas and let dry. Take the circle frames and ink over them with Speckled Egg and then mist them both with Winterfrost and Frozen Fog. Set them aside.
Take the larger white circle (smooth side up), and add two sided tape at the top and secure a silver ribbon loop to it (about 7 inches long), and then add a tiny piece of tape to the middle and secure the magnet to it making sure it's the correct side so that it will magnetize to the other on the card. Remove the backing on the colored images and press onto the larger circle in the middle, matching top side up with the ribbon hanging, and smoothing around the magnet and pressing well to will be slightly raised in the center from the magnet. Pour some Rocky Candy Glitter and Mica Flakes into a dome about a teaspoon full together (I put too much.), then remove the sticky backing, add a little Collage Medium for extra strength, and then lay the top larger circle on top while lifting above your head and pressing to seal well, and not turning it over it. Keep pressing and lay it somewhere to dry before flipping it over so that the glitter moves around go the glitter doesn't stick to any glue. Leaving it on a cup rim that is smaller will keep it secure until dry. Do not put on ring frame yet.
Cut two pieces of Silver Sparkle Kraftstock to about 1.5 x 6" and set one aside. Lay one in the stamp platform and add one sentiment to one side (two words on top of each other) and close to secure. Stamp the sentiment a few times using Speckled Egg Archival so you can see the image well on the sparkle and then immediately pour Speckled Egg Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set. (NOTE: When you heat set the Silver Sparkle the glitter sort of melts away leaving just a flat silver foil look. I thought this was so cool, so I kept it.) Flip the paper to the other side and add another sentiment and repeat the steps. Add two sided tape to the back and secure the other Silver Sparkle on the back. Cut the sentiments apart about 1/8" away from bottom last letter. Cut around one to look like a tapered base, and then cut a round shape at the top that will fit snuggly against the edge of the shaker. Use this sentiment as a guide to cut around the other sentiment so they look the same. Ink the edges of this with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. and add a tiny strip of two sided tape to the curved cut at the top of each. Adhere the base piece on to the bottom lip of the shaker. Add a tiny bit of Collage Medium around the lip of the shaker and secure the circle frame on pressing tightly to make sure everything is secure. Ink the edges of the frame with Gathered Twigs.  Tie a small bow using the same ribbon, and fish tail cut the ends and cut short. Use Collage Medium to adhere the bow to the bottom of the shaker above the sentiment base. Lay the snow globe shaker on the card front to magnetize in place.

Tim Holtz Sizzix Christmas 2023 - Sparkle and Layered Stripes with Candleshop and Trim A Tree Christmas Cards

Hello Everyone! Here is my other project from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Christmas LIVE from last week. These two were made with the Layered Stripes,  Colorize Trim A Tree, and Colorize Candleshop, along with the Sparkle 3D Texture Fade.  I am in love with the Sparkle Fade. These beads looks totally real...gotta love the 3D technology. Really, I am in love with all the dies from this release. Tim knocked it out of the park. Enjoy!
Cut two sheets of Ivory Mixed Media Cardstock from Ranger the same size as the Sparkle 3D Texture Fade. Take Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide and rub it over the larger side of the Sparkle Texture Fade, completely covering it. Working quickly, lightly mist one sheet of the Cardstock and place it into the Fade. Rub through the machine a few times and remove. The ink should have transferred to the paper. Clean the fade with water, and repeat, this time with Peacock Feathers Oxide and the other sheet. Let them dry. Cut and fold two Kraft Cardstock base cards to 4 x 9 inches.
Ink around the base cards with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Cut two pieces of more Mixed Media Cardstock to 3 7/8 x 8 7/8, and mount onto each base card. Take the two Sparkle embossed pieces and trim off both long side to make each 3.75 inches wide. Ink the edges of those with the Walnut Stain, add two sided tape and adhere those to the top of the base cards. Take the Layered Stripes Thinlits and papers from the Classic Kraftstock (a brown and a green) and papers from the Metallic 3 Kraftstock (platinum), with more Mixed Media Cardstock and cut the pieces for the dies (solid piece using the Mixed Media, next using a Metallic, and last using the colored Kraftstock for each one. Assemble the pieces using two sided tape. Trim each of these to 3.75 wide by about 2.5. Ink the edges with Walnut Stain, and adhere to the bottom of the base card.
Using the same papers, plus adding the brownish Metallic one from the Confections Metallics, adding regular Kraft Cardstock, adding Manila, and adding another green, die cut the pieces for the two trees (don't die cut the largest piece as you don't need it, and use Kraft for the very bottom layer, and alternating manila and Mixed Media for the layers on the white one, and alternating greens for the green one), the pots, one candle stick with thin candle (alternating the brown and platinum Metallic for the metal and alternating manila and Mixed Media for the candle), one shorter candle (alternating manila and Mixed Media), two flames (manila, orange, yellow and black for wick), two stars, 8 ornaments for each card alternating the colors of them, and two candle stick bases (brown and platinum Metallic) (saving that inside piece for base trays for the candlestick and short candle).  Confusing a little but just refer to my pics as I didn't take more photos, sorry. Cut the thin candle shorter so it doesn't cover up the ornaments that will go on the Sparkle part.  Ink the pieces lightly with Walnut Stain and them assemble using two sided tape and Collage Medium. For the buckets, I flipped each one a different way just for fun.
For the two candles, take the Antique Linen Distress Watercolor Pencil and a Detail Waterbrush or paintbrush and using a little water, color around the darker portions of the candle for a little more depth, especially in the center where the hot melted wax would be. Use the Mustard Seed Pencil to add a little yellow around the wick area of the flame. Unscrew the bottle of Distress Resist Spray and dip a brush in. Paint over the hot wax areas for a little hot wax sheen. Wash your brush immediately after.

Adhere everything except the candles and trees to the bottom portion of the cards. Adhere four of the ornaments to the bottom parts of the dangling garlands. Stamp the sentiments with the same colors of Oxide from the Modern Christmas Stamp Set from Stamper's Anonymous onto Mixed Media, and mount onto Kraft. Squirt out a tiny amount of Platinum Stickles onto the mat and pick up with the tiny end of a stylus and add the dots of glitter to some of the hanging down garlands and to the trees for light and to the ornaments. Do the same with White Opal and Bisque Liquid Pearls just on the garlands. Let dry, and then adhere the trees on with two sided tape. Add foam tape to the candles and adhere those on so they look raised and 3D.
