12 Tags of 2013 - December

Merry Merry Merry Christmas everyone!  I wish you each a joyful and love filled holiday!
I don't want to take up too much of your time at such an important part of the year, but quickly here is my December tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2013. I appreciate all the comments left on the last couple of posts as well! You all are a blessing to me!
I stamped Wendy's Clearly For Art first, and then backed it with mulberry paper. Remember that stuff?
I wanted some more texture on the poinsettias, so I embossed them with Tim's Sizzix Poinsettia Pattern Texture Fade.

12 Tags of 2013 - November

Hi everyone! You all probably think I've fallen off the Earth, and really I have...creatively speaking that is. I haven't crafted a thing since Italy...YIKES!!! The family and the approaching holidays have kept me EXTREMELY busy! I haven't even been able to visit blogs, which you all know I love to do. I am deeply sorry that I haven't been around, and will try try try as soon as Thanksgiving is over.
I stole away an hour though last night between pies a bak'n to make my November tag to play along with Tim's 12 Tags of 2013.
I followed all of Tim's steps for the tag, and then found some leaves in my yard that needed a new life.

I wish each of you that celebrate Thanksgiving, a marvelous time with family and friends, filled with fabulous food and drink! I am incredibly THANKFUL for all of you as well!

12 Tags of 2013 - October

Before I left on my trip to Italy, I wanted to complete my October tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2013, but I've had very little extra time on my hands lately. I thankfully managed to whip up a few postcard tags during my lunch and nightcap times while I was teaching last weekend at The Crafty Scrapper. I will use these for trading while on Tim's Tuscany Tour, and as you can see, I just can't help but have Italy on the brain with all the excitement I have bottled up. The second I saw the moon on Tim's tag, Dean Martin's tune started humming around in my mind, so it made sense to me to just go with that theme instead of Halloween.
I made the backgrounds the same way Tim did using Distress Paints. Then I added a little Distress Ink to highlight some areas. I stamped my images with Jet Black Archival, Distress Paint, and Distress Ink as well. I glittered the moon and eyes with Distress Glitter too.
I thought the David image was perfect for looking up at the moon, and having the Florence Santa Maria Duomo in the nighttime background really paints the scene.
It will be a while before I can post or comment, but I will be back in a few weeks to show and tell you about all the places, things, and people I saw while on my trip. Ciao!

12 Tags of 2013 - September (+ A Give Away!!!)

Hello everyone and happy happy Autumn!
I've been so busy kitting lately for the biggest class I've ever had...Christmas Village Centerpiece... so I'm sorry to have been gone for so long. MASSIVE "Thank You's" go out to all of you who commented on the baby shoes! I was absolutely blown away by all the attention they received. I really thought I'd get some sad faces over those, but it was all good...again thank you tons!
AND, with all the kitting came a little clean up, which produced the freebie products that I was supposed to give away after CHA Summer! HELLO! None of you reminded me that I was supposed to do that! ;0) I totally forgot and I am so sorry, but don't y'all want some goodies?!? I'll choose a winner from this post's comments and let you know who won on Monday, September 30th.
Now onto my September tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2013. I followed all the steps, but gave it an Autumn twist...my favoritest season!!! While I did like a few things about the tag, I definitely thought it was way too cluttered up, so I gave it another go. I know, so not me to do a redo. I am a firm believer that there are no mistakes in Art, but I just wasn't satisfied.

I used the Clockwork and Rays Stencils with the Distress Paint after I added the Embossing Paste leaves using Dyan's Leaf Flourish Stencil. I was definitely a little sloppy with the Clockwork one...you cannot even make out the clock, but I thought I should keep going on it.
Autumn colors of Stains came next and I was much happier because of the warm coloring, but then I just couldn't stop adding more stenciling and stamping. Why do I have to be so gaudy?

I added the new Distress Glitter in Mustard Seed to Translucent Embossing Paste to make the stars. I love how they came out, and I was much happier with this tag, although I liked the colors of the first one better. Oh well...live and learn.
We get a creative bonus this Autumn Season...Tim's Creative Chemistry 102! Woohoo! I can't wait to get started on it next week! I hope you all join in on the fun, AND...don't forget to comment for a chance to win the loot!

12 Tags of 2013 - August

Welcome back...to me that is! I've been on hiatus far too long. Thank you to those who have emailed, spurring me along to get back to business, and thank you to the new followers as well. I whole heartedly appreciate you!
Here is my August tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2013. I loved his simple masking technique, and all four of his tags were wonderful.
I had all of the images he used, but I hadn't used three of the four seen above, so I thought it would be fun to incorporate all of them on a #10 sized jumbo tag. There are several mistakes though, seen in hindsight, due mostly to being out of commission, but that is always part of the learning process. However, the pictures are not doing this tag much justice. It's a little hard to tell, but the children in the middle are sitting on Dyan's mushrooms.
I followed all the steps, only using different images and colors of Stains and Markers.

12 Tags of 2013 - July

Hi everyone. Again, I must apologize for not having my CHA products post finished, but things were turned upside down right after my last post on Friday. I've debated whether or not to bring this deeply personal issue up here, and my intention is not to bring anyone down, but I do consider all of you to be my friends, so here goes.
My best friend from about the end of 8th grade passed away last Friday night after a heavy battle with cancer. I was very fortunate enough to be able to spend many extended times with her to relieve her husband for work, and I cherish those memories, but I so wish I could have been there at the end. I whole-heartedly believed she would make it much longer than she did, and the sudden turn around for the worse was very unexpected. Needless to say, I was sure glad I had my husband to lean on, as he had made the trip to Las Vegas over the weekend. We made it home in time to go to the funeral on Monday, and it was a beautiful service. I am glad she is not suffering anymore...so glad...and I know she was needed elsewhere, but she is sorely missed, and I am finding it hard not to think about all the time.
Although not in the mood to craft a lick, I thank Tim Holtz and his monthly tag series, for reminding me that I made a commitment to myself to participate each month, and I know my friend would want me to keep on keeping on, so I made this July tag with all Tim's techniques, but with my beautiful friend's spirit on my mind, rather than the freedom theme, and just in the nick of time too as it seems.
I love the Fanciful Flight Die, and thought the Mini Heart would make a great body for it.
I loved the brayer technique that Tim used. I know I will use it again many more times.

12 Tags of 2013 - June

"Always waiting until the end of the month!"...that should be my new middle name! Here is my tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2013, June edition. However, since it's so close to Independence Day here in the U.S., I thought I'd go with that theme, instead of a more summery one, and Tim had me very inspired to do so after all his festive 4th of July projects lately.
I used Ranger's Specialty Stamping Paper as my base for the jumbo sized tag. It took the paint and inks so well, and allowed for the white in the background that I wanted, a little trick courtesy of Wendy!
