Cheers!!! It's December...yikes! The year is flying by, and I'm up to my eyeballs getting ready for Christmas and CHA. Speaking of CHA, I met a wonderful person there last year through
Marjie Kemper named
Patti Sokol. Patti is a designer in lots of genres and a wonderful artist. She has a bubbly and light personality and I loved getting to know her. Several months ago she asked me if I wanted to try her first set of new red rubber stamps, and of course I said I yes! She sent me a super fun set of cocktail themed stamps made of awesome thick red rubber already mounted on cling foam...just excellent quality...and they are compactly packaged for easy storage...very important to me. I love the versatility of the images as they can be used for a variety of occasions. Patti currently sells her stamps on
her Etsy sight, as well as her artwork. I hope she comes out with many more designs soon!
I decided to use the stamps initially to make invitations for an adult cocktail party for Christmas! Ho Ho Ho!!!
I stenciled with Wendy Vecchi Leaf Green Archival Ink from Ranger and used her Yikes Stripes stencil too on Distress Stamping Paper. I dried between layers with a heat tool as well. |
I stenciled over the striped area with the dots portion of the Stripes and Dots stencil, and then covered the dots with Wendy's new Embossing Powder Red Geranium. |
Then came more stenciling with Wendy's Polka Dotty stencil, but with Tim Holtz's Distress Ink in Shabby Shutters. |
I stamped over the Polka Dotty inked image with Tim's Stamper's Anonymous Christmas Nostalgia stars and snowflakes image in Forget Me Not Archival. |
I added the title with Jet Black Archival and covered it with Clear Embossing Powder and then added heat until it was melted. |
I stamped Patti's Cocktail work until Kraft paper using Jet Black and again heat embossed it with Clear Powder. I cut these out, inked the edges, and added them to the title. |
I used a strip of Tissue Tape with the Snowflakes on it, inked it with Tree Branch and then stamped all the other words in Patti's set with Red Geranium Archival Ink. I gave that a good dry. |
I stamped all the rest of the images in the set with Archival Inks, heat embossed them with Embossing Powder, and then watercolored them in with Distress Markers, as the next three photos show. |
I cut these in half and then made slits to fit on the glasses. |
Once finished with fussy cutting all the images out, I adhered them on or used foam tape for depth. The paper was then mounted on a kraft card, inked, and stamped with more words from the set. Finally, a few Idea-ology Mirrored Stars finished the cards off. |
Enjoy all the holiday parties you are invited to, and if no invitations show up, make your own and invite your closest friends for a grand night of festive joy! OH...and please drink responsibly!!! Cheers!
