Hey everyone! This was supposed to go live yesterday, but I forgot to publish, sorry. Here is another way to use the Tim Holtz Sizzix Brushstroke Flowers 2 and Colorize Cafe Dies, but on a card and with a vintage look this time using the teacup...a stark contrast from my tag from last week. Both of these dies are wonderful and so versatile. Enjoy.
Using
the Deckle Trimmer, cut a piece of Distress Watercolor Paper to 4.25 x 6
inches. Lay the letters 'f, o, r' from the Tiny Type Lower set on the top right
corner, and the letters 'Y, O, U' from the Stretch Upper underneath this.
Position to make sure it's straight before die cutting. You can use sticky grid or washi tape to help hold things in place. Die cut, but make sure you don't
lose the middle parts on the 'O's as you will use them. Save the positive parts
to use in another project.
Mist
the cardstock with Old Paper Distress Spray Stain as well as the two middle
pieces of the 'O's, and immediately place the cardstock inside the Swirls Multi
Level Texture Fade but leaving a 3/4 inch bottom edge not in the folder, and
run through your die cut machine three times. Remove from the folder, and rub an
Antique Linen Distress Ink pad directly over the raised images, including the
centers of the 'O's. Ink the inside edges of the letters as well. Set aside.
Using the Deckle Trimmer
again, cut a piece of Metallic Kraft Stock ( I used the champagne looking
color) to 4 3/8 x 6 1/8 inches. Ink the edges using Ground Espresso Archival
Ink, and adhere to Kraft Heavystock card base of 4.5 x 6.25 using two sided
tape. Ink the edges of the kraft card as well. Set this aside. Using Ivory
Heavystock, die cut the smaller scallop Crochet piece. Use a craft pick to
remove all the tiny pieces from the lace design. Rub the Antique Linen pad over
the lace piece and ink the edges heavily. Lightly mist water over this to
mottle and for the ink to settle into the holes. Ink the edges again, and
adhere the lace over the bottom of the watercolor piece that is not embossed
using a tiny bit of Collage Medium, and letting a bit of the lace hang over.
Trim the overage off the sides. Stitch around the sides and upper edge of the watercolor
with a straight stitch using a brown thread, and then zig zag the bottom
portion where the top of the lace meets the watercolor. Ink the edges of this
lightly with Ground Espresso Archival, and then adhere to card front with two
sided tape and a bit of Collage Medium on the thin parts around the letters.
Clean off any Collage Medium that squeezes out onto the Metallic Cardstock. Add
the 'O's to the centers of the letters as well.
(Note:
I add two sided tape to all the papers I used for die cutting to make adhering
the smaller pieces much easier and cleaner.) Die cut the teacup Colorize
portions of the Cafe Thinlits Dies using the champagne Metallic, Wallflower
Vellum, and Wallflower Cardstock that matches the Vellum. Ink the edges of
everything while you assemble the teacup. Use a craft knife to make a slit
between the front rim of the cup and the liquid look piece so you can slip
stems in later. Adhere the teacup to the card front along the left side on the
lace using two sided tape, but making sure the slit area is not adhered too close to the edge.
Using
the Brushstroke Flowers Thinlits, die cut five leaves from Ivory colored
Heavystock, as well as five flowers (choose the smaller flowers, and you will
not use the tiny extra parts that go on the flower so you can save those for
another time). Die cut three of the leafy stems from Kraft Cardstock, as well
as five of the same flowers as the previous five using the Kraft, and this time you will need the detail pieces. Die cut the
flower centers from all the five using the Champagne Metallic. Ink over the
five leaves using Shabby Shutters, Crushed Olive, and Bundled Sage with an Ink
Blending Tool just pouncing over the leaves for a mottled look. Lightly spray
the leaves with water and Old Paper Distress Spray Stain. Let dry and then ink
the edges with Bundled Sage. Lay the leaves randomly above the teacup to kind
of get a feel for where they will go. Lightly ink the edges of the three leafy
stems with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, and cut them in half. Lay these
randomly around the leaves where they will go, but no adhering yet.
