Hi everyone! Today, I have a Halloween card using the new stamps from Tim Holtz and Stamper's Anonymous. This card was super easy to make and is made with the new Bold Frights Set, lined up in candy corn colors and stitched around in the shape of a piece of candy corn...well at least I think it looks like candy corn. Enjoy!
Fold a piece of paper in
half, and cut a candy corn shape from it about 3 3/8 x 8 inches. Label the
colors on the pattern, white, orange, yellow for reference, using the width of
the sentiments on the Bold Frights set as a guide for the width of the colors.
Cut Kraft Heavystock with a Deckle Trimmer to 3.5 x 8.25 inches.
Using the pattern as a
guide, paint in the areas on the Kraft Heavystock with the widths needed for
each color, using Picket Fence at the top, Carved Pumpkin in the middle, and
Squeezed Lemonade Distress Paint at the bottom. Don't worry about the seeing
the paint lines or having even borders...you want that. Let this dry or use a
heat tool to speed the drying process.
Place the painted paper
in the Stamp Platform and add the first sentiment to the white area. Close the
lid to secure the stamp, and then use Antique Linen Distress Oxide to stamp the
image, stamping it a few times until the ink is nice and crisp, and then remove
and pour Clear Embossing Powder over the top. Heat emboss. Repeat with the next
sentiment using Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide, embossing, then the last
sentiment with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide and heat emboss.
I didn't like that the
sentiments were not bolder in color than the painted background, so I thought
why not try something. I laid the painted paper over a paper towel and misted
liberally with Black Soot Distress Spray Stain. I let it sit about a minute and
then blotted off the Stain. The Stain was resisted by the paint and embossing
and settled into the areas of only paper and thin paint. I loved the look so
much even though it was not what I originally had planned out. You can do this
or leave it as is. I dried again until the embossing heated back up and became
nice and shiny again.
Using the pattern as a
guide again, stitch around and over the sentiments using white thread making
the candy corn shape. Cut white cardstock mat to 3.75 x 8.5 inches. Cut black cardstock
base to 4 x 8.75 when folded. Mount candy corn onto white with two sided tape,
and then onto black cardstock base.
