ATC that is...although I hope that applies to my plump self as well! Anyway, I have been making a chunky ATC for a swap...more on that later in the week...and decided to make one for myself that depicts who The Artful Maven is...minus the crown and wings of course. I think this little chunker comes really close. She (or should I really be saying I?) likes Grunge, SteamPunk, painting, distressing, embossing, inking, building, embellishing, stamping, using all things metal and wood, and then of course she is also obsessed with taming her crazy hair!!!
She was designed using the specifications from the current Making Art Challenge at the
Everything Wendy Vecchi Yahoo Group of using "a watch face & tissue tape", and around Linda's homage to
Tim's Book, the
Compendium of Curiosities II Challenge of "Creative Core-Dinations ", which is also being sponsored by
Simon Says Stamp this week.
|
I cut a block of wood to ATC size, and gave it and the base a coat of Pitch Black Acrylic Paint. |
|
I stamped Wendy script with Gold Acrylic Paint onto Core-dinations Distress Paper, and then followed the technique used in Tim's book. I adhered the paper to the block. |
|
I cut off a few parts from Wendy's Art Chick girl, and gave her a coat of paint that I mixed up to make a flesh color, along with here hands. |
|
I stamped Art Chick's face on minus the star, and then re-stamped only the eye portion where the star should have been. I wanted to see both of her eyes. I colored here face in with paint, and then added some make-up with Distress Markers and a water brush. I colored up some Blossom Buckets and affixed them to her as well. |
|
I painted some art parts that I used as her hair. They worked perfectly. |
|
I painted crowns and embellished them, then added them to her head. Wings, arms, tissue tape trim, and lots of distressed metal as well as Idea-ology metal finished her off. |
Supplies:
From My Stash: hinges, propeller, glass ornate fuse beads, screws, wood
I hope your hands get creatively dirty soon!

ReplyDeleteHello Anita
ReplyDeleteA self portrait! How unique and how brave.... well of course for me this is just stunning! You have depicted yourself as Picasso would have done, his paintings were not always complementary to his subjects, but how famous is he now! Pity he is dead, he probably would have liked this.
Of course, I am aware that your aim was to demonstrate and flaunt your unorthodox domain, to symbolise what you are all about when you create. It does reveal everything that you love about your Art; all the elements, and the ridiculously excessive exaggeration in the design speaks volumes, and has a huge impact on the viewer, so much more than the written word.
Those are the best lips I have seen in a long time!
Wonderful work my friend.
Smiles:)
Sue
Anita, you're amazing... the artistry and inventiveness of this is just out of this world. It's fun, and funky, and grungy, and unexpected, and so quirkily witty! The art-parts hair is fab (speaking as someone who long ago gave up trying to tame her crazy hair), and the whole "Anita" bursts out of the chunky ATC with such life and creativity! W-O-W!
