I've waited until the last minute...again...to get my January tag done for Tim's new 12 Tags of 2016 "Remix". Isn't it such a cool idea to do a revamp of the old tags so we can get into the techniques again and refresh?!! He's a brilliant mind that one!!! So, I've dug through my old tags to refresh my memory as well, and here is my November tag from 2013, and my January tag from 2014. At first, I thought I would just combine my two tags, but since the November tag had leaves and acorns, I didn't think I would use that theme for a New Year's tag...right?!! So, I started playing with the techniques, as he intended, and came up with this.
It's not my favorite...can you believe that? I LOVE the background, and that is one of my favorite techniques, BUT I don't think the numbers were a good choice for the chalk technique. Oh well...live and learn.
Can you believe it's the end of the month?!! There is so much to do and so little time! Off to work now!!!
Once I did the Industrious Metal background, I wanted a bit more color, so I dropped Ranger's Alcohol Ink on some of the sanded places. Then I inked over the raised bits with some Wendy Tree Branch Archival. On the chalk portions, I wanted a clean look around the border of each one so I used a Hickory Smoke and Festive Berries Distress Marker to define the edges of all the designs, hoping I would like it better. Yeah...not really. Then I mounted it onto Metallic Kraft Core. |
