An NYC Christmas Configurations Tray

The Compendium of Curiosities Challenge has been running for two weeks this time, due to the larger creative nature of the project....Configurations.  I was fortunate to work on my Christmasy version riverside over the July 4th week while watching my children play in the Guadalupe River in the Texas Hill Country. Swimmers by looked at me strangely, but I didn't care. It was a great craft space to say the least, and my children actually enjoyed me working for a change! It was strange to be singing Christmas songs in my head while soaking up 90+ degree rays, but the scenery really did provide me with great inspiration.
My tray is not the usual Tim Configurations Tray. I found this solid wood one at a flea market in The Big Apple, and definitely reconfigured it to fit my New York City at Christmastime mementos. I have been fortunate enough to visit there twice during the holiday season, and have collected several items reminding me of my time. They needed to be showcased, and Tim's way really highlights these special tokens.Warning: TOO MANY photos!!!

The Magic Inside Us

I have always loved the Harry Potter movies, but I am not much of a reader, as I just don't have the time. But, strange even to myself, I decided I would read the first book and see what the hype was all about. It had me by chapter one, and I read all 7 books last summer...all 7! That's huge for me! After that, I longed for more, and it's so true in this case, the books are a thousand times better than the movies, and the movies are pretty great! So, when I saw the J.K. Rowling  quote on Artistic Outpost's new release from March 2012,  Quote & Quoteables, it was a must for me to create something around it. That something is the little girl holding a butterfly net from the Flower Market set, only I changed it up. I turned the net into a hat by cutting it off the stick, which is now a wand. The butterflies are also from this set, but I used them solely. The stars are from the Quote & Quoteables set as well. I am absolutely in love with this tag, and I don't say that too often...do I???

I am submitting this tag to Artistic Outpost's July Referral Program of "Anything Goes", and to the Blogger's Challenge of "Say It With Words".
