Happy July everyone! I'm back with another make for the Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous Summer release. This one uses the Inquisitive Stamp Set and is in those gorgeous famous colors perfect for Independence Day. Enjoy!
Cut
Specialty Stamping Paper from Ranger to 3.75 x 9 inches. Gather Barn Door and
Faded Jeans Archival Ink Pads and a mister
filled with rubbing alcohol (I add washi tape around the mister I use for
Alcohol so I know the difference between the one with water and the one with
the rubbing alcohol.). Using the Glass Mat, apply the two inks randomly to the
mat in several places straight from the pad. Mist liberally with alcohol and
run as well as tap the SSP through the wet inks. Once you like the look, use a
heat tool to dry this or let it dry on its own. Using an Ink Blending Tool and
Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, ink over any white areas as well as the borders of
the paper. Dry.
Lay
the inked SSP in the Stamp Platform, and arrange the three gents from the
Stamper's Anonymous Inquisitive Stamp Set in a row spaced out evenly, and
secure the stamps by closing the platform. Using Black Soot Archival, stamp the
gents onto the SSP and heat emboss with clear powder.
Either
stamp the gents on sticky note and cut out,
or just cut the sticky note to fit over all three gent's hats. Mask the hats
with sticky note and stamp the circle of rings image above the middle gent so
only half of the rings show using Barn Door Archival and the platform. Clean
the rings, and then replace over another gent's head this time higher so only
two of the rings show, and stamp the rings in Barn Door. Repeat with the last
gent. You want the rings to look like a banner or bunting. NOTE: When working
with SSP, you always need to dry ink before moving on to another step as the
ink stays wet a while on SSP, and you don't want to smear it. Using a small
piece of SSP, ink over it in Barn Door Archival, dry, and then die cut the
medium star from the Falling Stars Thinlits from Sizzix. Stamp only the '4'
from the number line image using Faded Jeans Archival. Let dry. Place the SSP
card front back in the platform and stamp the number line along the bottom
middle of the card in Faded Jeans. Stamp the dots vertically between the gents
in Faded Jeans. Remember to dry between stampings as to not smear the ink.
Using a small stamping
block and the pluses image, stamp the pluses on each side of the numbers and
along the right and left borders vertically on the card using Faded Jeans. Dry.
Use Collage Medium to adhere the star over the '4' on the card front.
Cut
a piece of black cardstock to 3 7/8 x 9 1/4 inches. Distress the edges with a
Distress Tool. Fold a kraft cardstock base card to 4 x 9 3/8 inches. Adhere the
black cardstock onto the kraft base using two sided tape, ink the edges of the
card with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and set this aside. Apply Hickory Smoke
Distress Crayon to the silicone mat and use a Detail Water Brush to pick up the
crayon and color in the gent's hats. Color in the gent's hair with Gathered
Twigs Crayon. Color in the faces with Tattered Rose. Color in his eyes, shirts,
and the open stripes of the buntings with Picket Fence Distress Crayon. Color
in the bows and any areas on the red parts of the bunting with Barn Door
crayon. Color around the pupils with Stormy Sky crayon. Add shadows around the
gents, the bunting, and the star with Pumice Stone crayon.
Ink
the edges of the SSP again with Gathered Twigs and then adhere to the card base
with two sided tape. Use a black pen to trace the border of the last stripe on
the bunting and draw loops underneath to look like ruffles. Use a white pen to
add dots to the eyes, and to trace around the '4'. Use Glossy Accents to fill
in the gent's monocle and let dry.

cute!
ReplyDeleteAnita, I'm happy to take a few minutes to visit your blog today, because now I am finally in the 4th of July mood! What a fabulous card using these guys! I love how you envisioned a banner with the circles stamp and how you gave importance to the 4th. But most of all, that background is wonderful! I often use alcohol with paints, but never, ever thought to use with inks; what a great technique! Wishing you a happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteI'm impatiently waiting for demos on some of your other new cards. :). Will you be sharing how you did them all or should I beg for a tutorial? Thanks for all you do share!!
ReplyDeleteLol... You made my day! Yes, tuts for all!!! Two more this week. Thanks so much!
DeleteOne of my favorite cards from the day!! I just love every every thing about it - the colors, the background (never would have thought of that), and the bold stamping...just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteTerrific design! Love the molted quality of the inked background. It's eye-catching, but doesn't dominate the design, instead it is a festive supporting player that teams marvellously with this charming trio of gents.
