This week for Grungy Monday the challenge is to do a tag based on Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas from 2009, Day 7. This is based on creating a custom mask from a stamped image. This was indeed a challenge for me because I don't have any custom mask sheets. So I improvised and created one out of scrap plastic from a Timmy die I just purchased. It is thicker than masking material and caused some of my background stamping to not flow, but other than that it worked pretty darn well. I used 3M Spray Adhesive on it, but let it dry several minutes before sticking it on my stamped image so it would not permanently stick. I had to further challenge myself by using 3 different stamps to create the final image that would also produce my custom mask. Live and learn. I had to get all the images just right which was difficult, but I finally got it right after a few tries. Moreover, this challenge proved even more difficult as I had to take a mulligan and make a whole new tag after I spilled water on the original after all that hard work. So after I walked away from it for a while (fuming of course) I did some much needed cleaning, then came back and made this tag with no water bottle to be seen within 10 feet. Upon posting this to GM 26, I blogged on over to Simon Says Stamp and Show, and realized that my tag fits the criteria for the challenge this week of making something using recycled items, because I used the plastic to make a mask. I entered it into their weekly challenge as well.
I would like to "Give Thanks" to all of you who read this blog, follow it, or comment on it. It has been over a month already and I am deeply humbled by all the emails and comments left by all of you wonderful readers. I never imagined that doing this would make me feel so fulfilled. You all are truly a blessing I am so thankful for!!!
Rather than list all my supplies, I took photos of all the materials I used while proceeding to each step in the process of making this tag. If you would like to know the particular name or brand please email me and I will give you the details.
