Tim Holtz Cruise Projects

  ATC's

Through the cruise yahoo group I signed up to trade Artist Trading Cards (ATC) with the other participants. I love doing this because you get back all types of cards as well as other handmade items like charms or tags  that I display in my work area. SO NICE, SO NICE!!! My card this year was entitled Caribbean Queen. On the front of the card I water colored the background to look like a sunrise or sunset, then stamped the compass rose and the ship image and colored it in with Glaze pens. I glued on the palm tree and corrugated paper, then affixed the lady (purchased from 32 Degrees North) with foam tape. I adhered the crown and penned in some birds and waves. I added Tim's Distress Stickles and the title...and walla...all finished. For the back I copied a map image of the Caribbean and attached a printed transparency over it with my tiny attacher. I glued on back ground paper and followed that with a tissue tape border. I attached a spinner to the map and adhered it. I finished up with the Bible verse from Proverbs 31:30-33...Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. I think this verse really speaks to the crafter...don't you think? Timmy had a whole different verse on his card for the obvious reason that he is male. It was a very lengthy process but so worth it, and look at all the loot I got back. Woohoo!!!

These are all the ATC's & trades I received! WOW!!!

These cuties were made by Pam and Paula.

My Travel Journal

Since last year when I went on the New England Cruise with Tim, I started doing a travel journal so that I could write all about what I saw and did and attach polaroid pictures (yes they still exist in a new cute size). This year I also made one for the other 3 girls in my group. Everyone's was personalized of course. I learned how to make the type stamp letters from a tutorial on <Tim's blog> . The rest of the cover is very similar to my ATC. I made the handle out of a large crystal blue bead and findings from Idea-ology, so is the key hole, corner pieces, and spinner.  The palm tree of course is from Jolee's. The tabs inside the journal are vintage edition bottle cap images purchased from <Scrapbooks.com> as well as the Caribbean Islands paper. I distressed all papers and the front and back covers with Tim's Distressed Crackle Paint and Perfect Pearls Mist (Lori's new fav) in various colors. The journal itself was a recycled paper notebook that I cut in half to create two journals instead. Inside I stamped every travel phrase stamp I had in my horded up, overflowing stash!
