Tim Holtz STAMPtember 2020 - Snarky Christmas Cats Cards

September means STAMPtember and Tim Holtz and Stamper's Anonymous have released a Christmas set of Snarky Cats. I created a matching set of cards using every stamp on the set. Oh my gosh, these cats are so stinking fun! I never tire of looking at them and reading the things they say. I hope you enjoy these cards as much as I did making them!

Cut papers first...kraft card base 5 x 6 1/8, blue cardstock 4 7/8 x 5 7/8, and pattern paper 4 x 4 7/8...times 4 if you make all of them. Stamp snowflakes on both edges of the blue cardstock in Picket Fence. Let dry thoroughly. Stamp snowflakes on pattern paper all over randomly in Jet Black.

Mount patterned paper to middle of blue cardstock, then ink edges in Gathered Twigs. Add a strip of Design Tape where the patterned paper and blue cardstock meet. Mount on kraft base and ink those edges.

Stamp sentiments in Jet Black on kraft leaving plenty of space between each and in front for cutting talking bubbles.

Cut around top, right, and bottom of sentiment squarely, and cut a pointer in bottom left corner. Ink edges in Gathered Twigs and draw white line around the border of the bubble.

Trim blue cardstock to 1 7/8 x 1 7/8, and stamp bird and 'meowy Christmas' under him in Jet Black. Stamp snowflakes in Picket Fence around the bird, and let dry.

Color bird and twig with Distress Crayons and Detail Waterbrush, and add transparency window to the top with Collage Medium. Ink edges in Gathered Twigs.

Trim 1/2 inch off bottom of #5 tags, and turn upside down so now tag hole is on the bottom. Stamp cats in Jet Black on each one. Stamp all but stocking cat onto sticky notes for masking. Mask cats and stamp present below them. Stamp starry snowflakes around the cats in Jet Black.

Color in background with Stormy Sky crayon and Broad Waterbrush. Ink over background with Antique Linen for mottled look. Color in cats with Distress Crayons and Detail Water Brush. Ink edges of tag with Gathered Twigs, and stitch around tag with red thread.

Foam tape tags to card front making sure tag hole is not adhered for the next part. Adhere transparency frame and foam tape talking bubble. Spray Crinkle Ribbon with Candied Apple Distress Spray Stain then Fired Brick, a foot for each card. Scrunch up and let dry or use heat tool to dry. Cut off three inches and thread through hole of tag laying flat. Loop the rest around three fingers, then place in the middle of flat piece, and tie that into a knot to make a bow. Fluff up the bow.

Add Glossy Accents to eyes of cats and bird. Add to candy cane, lights, bells, and cup as well. Let dry.

Eileen Hull Display Stand Letterboard for Autumn

Hi there! Eileen Hull and her crew have been focusing on the Great Outdoors this month, and Eileen's blog is filled with wonderful ideas from so many, so check it out. I wanted to participate as well, but I thought about the theme a little differently. Autumn and all it's colors and flavors is the epitome of the great outdoors for me, so I wanted to do something with that. Then I remembered an idea I borrowed from Stacy Hutchinson to use corduroy felt as a letterboard. Then I thought Eileen's Sizzix Display Stand would make the perfect base. Then I remembered from my elementary teaching days that felt sticks to felt (not as great as felt on flannel, but good enough) when I used a flannel board, so all the pieces on this letterboard can be taken off and stored away until next year, and I can decorate the letterboard for any and every occasion using Sizzix dies. So this is an ongoing project. AND...this project took me all of 30 minutes to throw together, plus drying time, so it's so simple to do. Hope you like it, and Happy Autumn everyone! Enjoy.
I die cut the Display Stand with Mat Board and assembled it.  Then I trimmed the corduroy felt to fit the front of the stand. I attached it with two sided tape. I tied pumpkin ribbon to the bottom on the die.
I die cut the pumpkins from Tim's Pumpkin Patch Bigz die, and die cut all the other words, letters, leaves and grass using Eileen's dies and plain white felt.
Since my felt was not colored and I was too lazy to put on a mask and go to the craft store, I colored the white felt with Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain from Ranger, and put it with a paper towel until I achieved the color and look I wanted. It only took about 30 minutes to dry naturally, and was simple to do. I used Antique Linen for the word love and large pumpkin, Crackling Campfire, the newest color, for the small pumpkin and word autumn, and Peeled Paint for the leaves and grass. I also stitched down the middle of the leaves and bottom of the grass. Then I just added the pieces onto the corduroy felt with no adhesive. They are just sticking on.
