Eileen Hull Display Stand Letterboard for Autumn

Hi there! Eileen Hull and her crew have been focusing on the Great Outdoors this month, and Eileen's blog is filled with wonderful ideas from so many, so check it out. I wanted to participate as well, but I thought about the theme a little differently. Autumn and all it's colors and flavors is the epitome of the great outdoors for me, so I wanted to do something with that. Then I remembered an idea I borrowed from Stacy Hutchinson to use corduroy felt as a letterboard. Then I thought Eileen's Sizzix Display Stand would make the perfect base. Then I remembered from my elementary teaching days that felt sticks to felt (not as great as felt on flannel, but good enough) when I used a flannel board, so all the pieces on this letterboard can be taken off and stored away until next year, and I can decorate the letterboard for any and every occasion using Sizzix dies. So this is an ongoing project. AND...this project took me all of 30 minutes to throw together, plus drying time, so it's so simple to do. Hope you like it, and Happy Autumn everyone! Enjoy.
I die cut the Display Stand with Mat Board and assembled it.  Then I trimmed the corduroy felt to fit the front of the stand. I attached it with two sided tape. I tied pumpkin ribbon to the bottom on the die.
I die cut the pumpkins from Tim's Pumpkin Patch Bigz die, and die cut all the other words, letters, leaves and grass using Eileen's dies and plain white felt.
Since my felt was not colored and I was too lazy to put on a mask and go to the craft store, I colored the white felt with Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain from Ranger, and put it with a paper towel until I achieved the color and look I wanted. It only took about 30 minutes to dry naturally, and was simple to do. I used Antique Linen for the word love and large pumpkin, Crackling Campfire, the newest color, for the small pumpkin and word autumn, and Peeled Paint for the leaves and grass. I also stitched down the middle of the leaves and bottom of the grass. Then I just added the pieces onto the corduroy felt with no adhesive. They are just sticking on.

  6. I have never heard of corduroy felt before but it looks very textural. This is such a beautiful creation with those wonderful pumpkins and the stitched leaves. I wish I could just reach out and touch this piece, it looks so tactile. Love it! Hugs, Anne xx
