Fly Fly Fly!!!

The recent challenge at the Everything Wendy Vecchi Yahoo Group is from Wendy's Book 3, page 33, which is a 'circular base with 3 buttons'.  I decided to turn my circular base into a hot air balloon, and my buttons are apart of the gear mechanisms.
I adhered newsprint to the a circle Art Part, and then stamped the image on it in Coffee Archival Ink. I inked the edges in Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
The gears where inked with Mustard Seed, Salty Ocean, and Mowed Lawn, but then I changed the later to Fired Brick, before stamping all of them with the definition in Jet Black Archival. The faucet handle was inked in Vintage Photo and stamped in Jet Black as well.
I adhered the newsprint onto kraft cardstock scrap and stamped a portion of the balloon image in Jet Black Archival.
I cut out and adhered the balloon to the circle and colored it in with Distress Markers. I backed a piece of Graphic 45 hounds tooth paper to black cardstock and adhered it to the balloon. I stamped the sentiment on and adhered the Fly x3 on, and then added the gears, buttons and faucet.

I am submitting this to the Sunday Stamper's challenge of "More Than Words".

Ink Conflux Card Redux

It's time for another weekly challenge at Our Creative Corner again. Lori Rider, of the Diva Stamper, is hosting this week, and it's a super fun theme! It's a "What Not to Stamp Card Makeover" challenge. Lori says, "I love watching makeovers on TV, and we're going to adapt the makeover concept for this week's challenge. When I look back on those cards I made when I first started stamping, I cringe. What was I thinking? Well, we all had to start somewhere. That's where the challenge comes in! First go hunt through your photos and find one of those old cringe-worthy cards, but then choose one or two things about it that you DO like and use those on a new card. Maybe it’s the layout, the colors, a technique you used... anything is fair game. The only catch is you have to show us the old card so we can see how far you’ve come!"
This challenge is so super cool, and you need to check out all the Design Team's redos, as well as welcome our newbies!!!

After last weeks embarrassing failure of a card and this week's theme, I thought why not!!! I hate that card, but I took what I did like about it, which was the the blue and yellow inked goodness (ink conflux) on the embossed floral paper, and went with that again on this new card (card redux). I am much more satisfied now, and like my new card very much, despite it being a sympathy card :0(.
Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans, Mustard Seed, and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink were rubbed onto the craft sheet and then misted with water.
The paper was dipped into the ink.
More ink was added on the coordinating parts of the paper, and then wiped off of the embossed areas. The script image was stamped in Mustard Seed on the yellow areas and the blue areas in Salty Ocean. It shows up so well.
The card was cut into 3 parts, and all the edges distressed.
Distress Paper was sanded and inked in Walnut Stain. The inked paper was added and stitched around.
Prima Flowers were inked, and burlap string was added to the centers along with beads. An ornate frame with the sentiment was adhered and then the whole paper piece was adhered to Kraft Resist Paper that was inked in Walnut Stain.  Flourishes and flowers completed the card.
I am submitting this card to The Stamp Man's Challenge of "Anything Goes: Summer Color".
