Hello All, and Happy April! Easter is this week, and so I have a pair of cards made with the new Everyday Dies and Texture Fades from Tim Holtz and Sizzix, that I think turned out just adorable. The new Bunny Stitch Thinlits pair perfectly with the new Papercut Cafe and Mini Brushstroke Flowers, and these were so super fun to make. Enjoy, and Happy Easter to those who celebrate!
I used felt from Sizzix to die cut all the main pieces from the Bunny Stitch Thinlits and mounted it on to the base pieces of each item cutting them from Kraft Cardstock from Ranger. I used regular pink thread to sew into the hollow parts of the ears and nose of each bunny. Then I used a thicker white thread to create the bunny's whiskers, just going in and out around the nose, and securing the back with scotch tape. For the eyes I used Tim's Brown Craft Thread, tying a knot and leaving the threads for the eyelashes. They are not perfect looking, but I like the little slant the knots give to the eyes. I also free hand cut the fluffy tails using the felt. I inked the edges of everything with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
I die cut all the pieces from the two cups from Papercut Cafe using Ivory Heavystock, and the main saucer and cup piece using parts of the new Collage Strips from Idea-ology. I love the those strips and love that you can cut apart the pieces that you need and all the patterns work so well together. So I made one blue flower cup and one pink. I inked the edges of everything with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
For the Mini Brushstroke Flowers, I die cut the ones I wanted (and there are so many to choose from) using Watercolor Cardstock with two sided tape on the back. I colored them in with Distress Watercolor Pencils and a Detail Waterbrush leaving them in the negatives. Then I adhered them together, and into the cups.
For the background of the card front, I cut a piece of Watercolor Cardstock to size, times two, and misted it with Twisted Citron Oxide Spray and a little water. While it was damp I ran it through the machine in the Entangled 3D Texture Fade. Talk about LOVE!!!! This fade is gorgeous! I rubbed the pad of Peeled Paint Distress Archival Ink over the raised areas, and then trimmed around the top raised images to look like blades of grass and foliage.
I stamped the sentiment onto more White Heavystock, from the Spring Shadows stamp set from Stamper's Anonymous, and mounted it onto Kraft with a fish tail cut. I cut Crinkle Ribbon enough to go around each card front and back a bow, and misted it with water and Mustard See Distress Oxide Spray and wadded it up to dry. Then I tied it around the front. Then I added on all the die cut pieces with Collage Medium and foam tape.
