Colorize Bloom on Planks Card with Salvaged Patina Distress

Hello everyone! I know all of you were excited as I was to see the new gorgeous color of Ranger Tim Holtz Distress, Salvaged Patina! Oh my gosh am I in love with it. I had to play immediately when I received the new goods, and came up with this card that also has lots of new Idea-ology and the Colorize Bloom Thinlits from Sizzix. I hope you like it. Enjoy, and I hope you are able to score the new color soon.

For the wood planks and card base, take a piece of Distress Woodgrain Cardstock. Apply Walnut Stain Distress Paint to the silicon mat and use a brayer to pick up the paint rolling it back and forth. Roll the brayer over the woodgrain until mostly covered. Dry with a heat tool. Apply Picket Fence Distress Paint to the mat and apply the paint randomly in several places. Dry. Apply Salvaged Patina Distress Paint to the mat and apply it with the brayer to woodgrain covering most of it. Dry. If you see spots or colors you want to change apply the paint of choice. Dry. Set off to the side.

I just wanted you to see what my craft mat really looks like while I am working before I clean it up to take the step out photo! BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I am messy when I am in the zone. BUT, I did mist all this paint with water and added several Heavystock Tags to it to not only clean up but have some great backgrounds ready to go for another day.

Using a sheet from Wallpaper Scraps and a matching flower arrangement piece that has lots of blue or green in it, trim the sheet to 4 3/4 x 6 1/4 inches. Add a few drops of Salvaged Patina Distress Paint to the mat and add a few squirts of water to it to really thin the paint. Blend with a paintbrush and paint over the area you want to be blue along the edge of the wallpaper piece. I painted the green areas. You don't need to do the middle as it will be covered up. Take the flower piece and do the same, painting the areas you want blue, or to make the blue areas Salvaged Patina blue. Clean the brush, and set this off to the side.

Fold a kraft cardstock card base to 5 x 6.5 inches, and ink the edges in Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. Stitch around the Wallpaper piece, ink the edges in Gathered Twigs, and then adhere to the card base with two sided tape. Set just off to the side. Cut a piece of Kraft Cardstock to 4 x 5.5 inches. Take the woodgrain piece, and trim pieces off in 1 inch, 3/4 inch, or 1/2 inch widths, so they will lay in tight line next to each other on top of the kraft piece with a slight border of the kraft showing all around. Take the first plank and cut through making two pieces, and ink all of the edges heavily of both pieces with Vintage Photo Archival or another brown permanent ink so it stays over the paint. Add two sided tape to the back and adhere to the kraft piece remembering the border, and keeping the pieces flush together. Do the same with the rest of the pieces until the kraft piece is full and a border is left all around. Ink the edges of the kraft piece and adhere it to the center of the Wallpaper piece using two sided tape. Set aside.

For the flowers, using a piece of paper from the Backdrops, cut about a three inch piece off and mist with Salvaged Patina Distress Spray Stain. Let dry, and then die cut the large flower and buds from the Colorize Bloom Thinlits. For the stem of the buds ink over them with Bundled Sage Distress Ink and an Ink Blending Tool. Adhere the buds on with Collage Medium and then ink over those with Salvaged Patina. Adhere the next part of the buds on and ink over those with Salvaged Patina. Do the same with the large flower, except the center pieces that are brown and yellow so you can ink those with Gathered Twigs and Squeezed Lemonade.

For the two leaf portions, ink the stems with Bundled Sage and then adhere the leaf parts and ink over with Twisted Citron, and again for the next layer.

Taking the large flower and bud pieces, color each bud piece with an Embossing Pen and then pour Salvaged Patina Distress Embossing Glaze over this and heat emboss to highlight the buds. Do the same with the large flower but outlining the pieces instead to define them and heat emboss the Glaze using Tweezers to help you hold them without burning yourself.

Now it's assembly time. Ink the edges of the wallpaper scrap and flowers and leaves with Gathered Twigs. Add two sided tape to the back of the flower wallpaper scrap and add to bottom right of card front. Add a few pieces of foam tape to the back of the some of the leaves and buds and add Collage Medium to the stems and adhere those over the wallpaper scrap top, bottom, and side so that when you place the large flower, the ends will be covered up by it. Add foam tape to the back of the large flower and adhere it in the middle of the those pieces. Take some white thread and wrap it around three fingers several times. Remove the loops and twist in a figure 8 shape, and then adhere next to large flower using Collage Medium. Add two layers of foam tape to the back of a Quote Flair and adhere it in the middle of the thread. I wanted the dog on my Flair to be brown and black to match my own dog, so I used a brown permanent marker to color mine in. Add Glossy Accents to the centers of the flowers and portions of petals and leaves on the wallpaper scrap to define them. Let dry.
