Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 1 - The Gent Lucky on St. Patrick's Day Card

Hello All! This is my last post on all the makes for the Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 1 release. Sad, but I'm working on Chapter 2 now, so that will come soon. A big thank you to Tim and Sizzix for this opportunity and for all the inspiration from the other designers. If you haven't seen some of their makes, please visit them. You can find all the info on the designers on Tim's website on the Maker's Page. This card was so fun and easy to make and uses the new Gent Thinlits, which I adore. Just look at that face, so stern yet handsome I think. I love St. Patrick's Day and all the green, and I thought he was perfect for such a card. I think it's nice to send a little luck to loved ones on St. Pat's...hope you do as well. Enjoy!

Have a kraft card base ready at 5 x 6 1/2 inches, ink edges in Gathered Twigs, and set aside for a bit. Trim Blackout cardstock to 4 7/8 x 6 3/8, and distress edges with distress tool, ink edges with Jet Black Archival. Cut dark green Christmas Stash paper to 4 3/4 x 6 1/4 inches, distress edges, ink edges in Jet Black and adhere to Blackout with two sided tape. Sew around the edges of the dark green paper with white thread. Attach this to the kraft card base, and set aside. Cut green scroll Christmas stash paper to 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. Ink the edges of the green checked frame with Jet Black Archival and then attach the scroll paper to the back with two sided tape.

Die cut the umbrella base with Champagne Metallic Cardstock and the umbrella top and handle with Blackout using The Gent Thinlits. Ink the edges of the black parts with Jet Black and attach the pieces to the umbrella base, and set aside for a bit. Use Oregano and Moss Alcohol Ink to color in the '17' Plaquette by just dripping the colors and getting what you get. Lay the Plaquette on the left top corner of the frame, and poke the holes with a craft pick. Attach the brads and secure them. Adhere the frame to the left side of the card with two sided tape. Trim the edges of the Quote Chip if needed to shorten it, and then ink over the sides and top of the Quote Chip with Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink first, and then ink over that with a little Crushed Olive Distress Ink to match the Plaquette. Adhere the Quote Chip to the bottom middle of the frame with two sided tape. Punch out several clovers (I did eight) using various green papers and cardstocks like green Deco Sheet, Metallic greens, and regular matte cardstock, using the Clover Paper Punch. Adhere the umbrella to the inside of the frame turning it sideways to the left with the left edge of the umbrella resting on the edge of the frame, using two sided tape, but do not add the tape to the top edge of the umbrella...you want it to be somewhat rounded like a bowl for the clovers to slide under. Add Collage Medium to the back of the clovers and adhere them to the bowl of the umbrella so it looks like the whole umbrella is full of clovers.

Die cut all the pieces of The Gent himself using cardstock from the Classic Kraft Stock and his pupils, hat band, and bowtie with the green Deco Sheet. Adhere all the pieces using two sided tape or Collage Medium as shown in the picture on the die cover. Add a piece of white cardstock for a dress shirt underneath the bow and collar, and trim it to a slight V shape on the end. Sew a button (I found this gorgeous vintage button at the fabulous Tinsel Trading Company in NYC years ago.) onto the shirt below the bowtie, and then ink the edges of the shirt with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Adhere The Gent on the top right of the card slanting inward like he is coming from behind the card and resting on the frame using two sided tape and foam tape.
