Guest Designing at Frilly & Funkie - Case It!

Hey hey hey crafters! I was thrilled to be asked by the Funkie Junkie herself Linda Coughlin, to go back to my old stomping blog grounds and do a guest design spot for Frilly & Funkie! Of course I said yes, and to my delight the fortnightly challenge is "Case It" and is based on Linda's 12 Tags of Christmas, but with a summer twist! How cool is that?!! All you have to do is make something based on any of her tags but use a summer theme. I LOVE it!!! Here is what I came up with, and I based it on Linda's Day 11 Tag.
Instead of Distress Glitter, I opted for Ranger's newer Stickles colors. I stamped Tim's cars in Jet Black Archival, colored them in with Distress Markers, and then went nuts with the Stickles. Pink Taffeta for the lady, and Ice Blue for the gent!
I stamped the couple from Tim's Stamper's Anonymous Purely Random set with Jet Black, and colored them in with Distress Markers, and gave the gent a Stickled tie.
Distress Paint and water made the background for the tag, and I tried to lay the colors out on the craft sheet like I wanted them on the tag...it worked!!! I love the tones in the summer sky.
I stamped the tire marks from the Travel Ways set along the grey area that is now roadway, outlined with a white Stabilo pencil. I wanted it to look like she slammed on the brakes first and he followed to make a little time for romance! ;0)
I loved the trees on Linda's tag, so they went all along the roadway along with some other Christmas foliage, and I stamped them with Distress Markers! I love this technique!
I stamped some words that went with the theme in the summer skyline above the mountain trees using Watermark Ink. It's very subtle but effective!
The sentiment and heart came next and I covered them for Clear Embossing Powder. Then I decided to stitch in the roadway lines! The stitching totally transformed the scene for me! I really love this simple tag!

I absolutely adore this tag, and really do think you need to pause so that good things can be taken in and enjoyed...especially love! I hope you can take some inspiration from it. Thank you Linda and the team for having me back for a day!!!

  10. Well now, how cool is this!! Not only was that original challenge a hoot, but now with twist. OMG, who doesn't love a good twist now and then? What you've done here on a little bitty tag should be considered another wonder of the world. Holy crapolla...it's incredible! The stitching nearly caused me to back flip and then just thinking how you created each piece of this scenery...outstanding!

  14. I love this tag too, Anita, but it sure isn't "simple"! There is so much going on and all of it is fabulous. Every single element supports the theme that you have set out. Love the many layers and how you have woven everything together - especially the glittery cars. And the skid marks are the frosting on the cake! Thanks so much for making a guest appearance at Frilly and Funkie. It was great to have you back with us again, if only for a short time!

    Hugs,
    Linda
