Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 1 - Love You A Latte Colorize Cafe Valentine Gift Card Tag

That title is a mouthful, yikes! It's accurate though.  When I designed this for the Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 1 release, I wanted a tag, a valentine, and something to hold a gift card, so I combined them all for this and used the new Colorize Cafe (again because it's wonderful!). ;0) It's a lot to see, but I loved making it...maybe just because I finally used that 'cherries paper', and actually this did not take me long at all, two hours maybe. Enjoy!

Using the Christmas Stash Papers (I used the cherries.), die cut the Gift Card Package, ink the edges of the papers with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and assemble the Gift Card Package. You will not use the bow pieces or mini tag. I also secured the scored fold lines with the red gingham Design Tape for more durability. Also, I added an extra layer of cardstock to the top of the gift card box so it would be raised higher than the bottom. In lieu of the bow pieces, I used Velvet Trimming and adhered it with two sided tape and Collage Medium for the bow itself. Fishtail the ends of the ribbon.

(Note: I added two sided tape to all the papers before die cutting to make assembly easier.) Using Watercolor Cardstock as the base with the first die piece, die cut the to go cup from the Colorize Cafe set. Use more Christmas papers in red designs for the remainder of the cup pieces (I used black with white dots, cherries, red gingham, and red cardstock.). Use gray and white cardstock for the steam. Ink the edges of all white pieces with Antique Linen Distress Ink, black pieces with Black Soot, and red with Festive Berries so no kraft or white edges are seen. Die cut the smallest heart from the Falling Hearts set and adhere it to the center of the cup. When the cup is complete, trim the cap off of the cup, and mount both pieces onto Kraft Heavystock separately. Trim around them leaving a sliver of a border. Ink the border with Gathered Twigs. Adhere the cap of the cup to the top of the box top with the lip portion hanging off so that when the lid is on the box the cap will match the cup and look whole. Adhere the cup portion to the bottom box with two sided tape.

Using a giant #12 Kraft Tag as a base, trim off a piece of the bottom to make the tag 8 1/4 inches long. Cut a piece of Blackout Kraft Stock to fit into the tag, 5 x 8 inches, and trim the corners off to match the tag, but do not adhere yet. Use a piece of the red distressed wood paper from the Christmas Stash to go inside the black cardstock, and trim it to 4 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches, and trim the edges to match the tag. Following the lines of the wood planks, cut the planks apart, there should be three. Ink the edges of the planks with Gathered Twigs. Add two sided tape to the back of the planks along the center only, and adhere to the Blackout tag piece. There will be a tiny gap between each plank for a more realistic look. Add pieces of torn Design Tape (red gingham) to the tag randomly for a little more interest. Use a hole punch to make the tag hole up at the top. Using a sewing machine with white thread, stitch around each plank. You can make one run through by making a plan so you don't have to stop and cut and begin again, and I wish I could figure out a way to explain my trek around the planks, but I don't have the correct keys on the keyboard to show the stitching path I made, but think stitch around first plank, skip second and stitch around third, and then finish with stitching around second. Once stitched, adhere this to the kraft tag base, and ink the edges in Gathered Twigs. Ink over a white tag hole sticker with Festive Berries, and attach over the top hole in the tag.

For all letter die cutting, it's important to have two sided tape on the back before die cutting. Die cut the 'LATTE' in kraft cardstock and ink the edges in Gathered Twigs. Die cut the love in black with white dots, and ink the edges in Black Soot. Die cut the 'A' from the cherries paper, and then mount on black cardstock and trim around for a border look. Die cut the 'you' in red gingham, and mount on black cardstock and trim around for a shadow look. Die cut the medium and large hearts from the Falling Hearts die from red cardstock. Add foam tape to the back of the bottom of the gift card box (not the top so the card can be pulled off), and adhere to the bottom of the tag. Adhere the 'LATTE' above the box, the 'love' above that. Adhere the 'you' to the top right of the 'love' and the 'A' below it. Adhere the steam above the coffee and the hearts above it so it looks like they are coming off the steam. Add velvet trimming to the tag hole and tie and knot and fishtail the ends.

Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 1 - Leave A Little Sparkle In The Park Valentine Card

Hey there everyone! I have some Valentine's Day cards coming up in the next several posts, and this one using the new Tim Holtz Sizzix In The Park Thinlits, which to me have a very Mary Poppins vibe. I had such fun making this colorful and crazy card using lots of sparkle. Enjoy!

Using a piece of Silver Sparkle Alcohol Ink Cardstock, die cut the Falling Hearts Thinlits. Poke out the hearts and save for another project. Add Cloudy Blue and Sail Boat Blue Alcohol Ink to an Alcohol Ink Blending Tool, with a dot of Celestial Pearl. Bounce this on over the hearts piece, covering it completely. Cut this down to 3 3/4 inches wide making sure the hearts are centered, and leaving the length. Cut a piece of Kraft Heavystock to 8 x 8 7/8 inches. Fold it in half length wise to make a card base, and set aside. Cut a piece of black cardstock to 3 7/8 x 8 3/4 inches. Cut a piece of red glitter Deco Sheet to 3 3/4 inches and leaving the length. Adhere the red glitter to the black cardstock at the top and leaving a slight border at the top and sides. The bottom will be open for now. Adhere the hearts blue cardstock over the red glitter using two sided tape, centering it perfectly.

Die cut two of the buildings from the Suburbia Cityscape Dies using the Silver Sparkle Cardstock, plus the roofs for each. Pounce Espresso, Slate, and Pitch Black Alcohol Ink over the buildings and the roofs. Adhere the roofs on with two sided tape, and ink the edges in Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. Die cut the two tree first with Kraft cardstock, then the two trees with Green Deco Sheet, and the trunk with Gold Deco Sheet. Adhere the green parts over the kraft, and then the gold trunk to the tree. Cut a tiny piece of gold Deco Sheet for the trunk of the smaller tree and add it. Ink the edges of the trees in Gathered Twigs. Adhere the buildings to the left side of the card at the bottom of the blue hearts cardstock so that the blue can be seen through the windows. Cut a piece of green glitter Deco Sheet to 3 3/4 inches wide by 2 1/4 inches. Trim a slight rolling hills look to the green glitter and then adhere it over the houses and to the black cardstock leaving a slight border on the bottom and sides. Using a sewing machine with white thread, sew around the border of the card and over the rolling hills. Adhere the large tree between the houses, and the smaller to the right side of the card. Adhere this to the kraft cardstock base using two sided tape. Ink the card base edges in Gathered Twigs.

Die cut the couple from The Park Thinlits with Silver Sparkle Cardstock and black cardstock. Die cut the open umbrella pieces using Silver Sparkle. Die cut the smallest heart from the Falling Hearts Thinlits with red glitter Deco Sheet. Mount the heart on black cardstock, cut around it leaving a slight border and set aside. Pounce Pitch Black Alcohol Ink over the umbrella handle and the open umbrella part. Mount the open umbrella part over the whole umbrella and set aside. Add Deception, Splendor, Alchemy, Sublime, Tranquil, Villainous, and Intrigue Pearl to the Alcohol Ink Applicator and pounce over the couple one time per section so the colors don't mix and completely cover them. If you have any bare spots carefully pounce on a corner of the tool to the bare spot. Don't throw away the felt quite yet. Mount the inked couple over the black cardstock matching pieces off setting the black cardstock to the right for a shadow look using Collage Medium. Adhere the umbrella to the lady's hand and the heart to the man's hand. Adhere the man to the lower right corner, and the lady up in the air in the middle top of card. Pounce of the same Pearl to a strip of Silver Sparkle about 1/2 inch wide. Add the sentiment from the Small Talk Stickers (cut in half) and then trim if need be for an 1/8 inch border, and ink the edges of the sentiment pieces in Gathered Twigs. Adhere the sentiment pieces in the lower left corner with two sided tape. Add the Valentine word underneath from the Chit Chat Stickers.
