Wendy Vecchi Crazy Colorful Birthday Bash Card

A small screech of the Christmas brakes (insert noise) for a quick, easy, and colorful birthday card, using the Wendy Vecchi Birthday Bash Stamp, Stencil and Die Set from Ranger, along with a few other Wendy goodies.

I taped off every other stripe on the Repeating Quilt stencil from Stamper's Anonymous. Then I inked in a stripe of Garden Patina, then a stripe of Cactus Flower, repeating the process until all were inked.

I removed the tape and then added it back on going the other way. I inked it the stripes with Tiger Lily and Prickly Pear this time.

Using the small star from the Birthday Bash stamp set, I stamped the stars following a pattern using all four of the same color of inks.

I laid the Lots of Dots Stencil over the card and inked in using Jet Black Archival. I misted the card with Pearl Mica Spray. I trimmed the card to fit on a black cardstock mat and then onto the landscape card, 3.5 x 5.25, and inked the edges in Potting Soil before mounting.

Using the cake layers part of the stencil, I inked the same four colors with a detail blending tool, alternating them on a 1 x 5.25 strip of cardstock. I lightly misted with Pearl Mica Spray, and then I mounted this on black cardstock and then adhered this to the bottom part of the card. I stamped the sentiment on the left side of the strip in Jet Black.

I die cut the Tim Holtz Sizzix oval from Perfect Cardstock, and inked over it with Garden Patina. I used a black pen to draw the rim. I adhered this to the right side of the card on the strip. I stamped and cut out the cake. I used the matching stencil to ink in the cake and stamped the cake texture on. I stamped and cut out the star and inked it. Then I adhered the cake and star on the plate. I used Enamel Accents to color in the star and added the decorative frosting.

Papercut Christmas Hip Hop Card

Hi All! I'm back with another Christmas card this week, and one I hope you find as fun as I intended. Are you confused on the title of this post? Well to understand my thinking...when I first saw the LIVE that Tim Holtz did, introducing the new Sizzix Dies for Christmas, namely the Papercut Christmas 1 and 2, I let out a laugh as I thought all three of the characters looked like they were raising the roof at a dance club with the way their arms were up. I kept singing the chorus from a Hip Hop song in my head that I thought was real, "Say hey, say ho, say hey, say ho ho ho", but I've looked and looked and can't find any song exactly the way I thought. There are a few like the tune I had in my head, "Hip Hop Hooray" from Naughty by Nature (Remember that one?) and "Scream" from DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince (Will Smith), but my tune is a version of both of these. Who knows what goes on in my subconscious mind or where I even picked up the tune, but regardless, I knew I was going with a musical old school hip hop version on this card and with the sentiment. I wish I had a way to record it to sing to you...well maybe not...or at least use it in the card when the recipient opens it, but I don't have such a device. Hopefully the characters convey what I intended. Anyway, I always imagine Santa and his peeps letting off steam and having a good time dancing and singing while they work so hard for all the children of the world before the big day. You gotta have fun doing what you love! I know I did on this card, and it was easy to make.

I die cut all the Colorize Papercut Christmas characters (Santa, Deer, Snowman) using papers from Classic Cardstock, Christmas Paper Stash, and Metallic Confections, with all the papers having two sided tape on the back for easier adhering later. (I didn't want the traditional colored clothing for these since I think those are for the big day. These are for the regular days.) I inked the edges of all the pieces with either Rustic Wilderness, Antique Linen, or Gathered Twigs Distress Ink from Tim and Ranger, coordinating the inks with the colors of paper. I assembled all the pieces...well, I lost the eyes to the reindeer and the nose to the snowman, so I cut pieces of cardstock for those because I was too lazy to do it again. I used some markers to color in the debossed portions on Santa's suit and beard, the deer's chest, and added some lines around the snowman.

I cut a kraft card base to 6 x 6 inches (inked edges in Gathered Twigs), the green plaid mat to 5 7/8 x 5 7/8, and a green cardstock mat to 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 (inked both of these in Rustic Wilderness) and adhered them all together for the base of the card. I cut a blue Metallic Kraft Stock piece to 3 x 5, and stamped the music notes from Tim's Music and Advert Stamp Set from Stamper's Anonymous, on it using Speckled Egg Oxide and a stamp platform, then heat embossed in Clear powder. I inked the edges of this with the Oxide and mounted it to the top of the card with two sided tape. I hand cut a white cardstock piece (3 x 5) to look like a rolling hill, inked the edges with the Oxide, and adhered it to the bottom. I die cut the trees from the Colorize Snowscape (not the way they are intended to be used, but I liked the whimsical look) set in white cardstock, inked the edges in Speckled Egg Oxide, and adhered those to the edges of the hills.

Originally, I started die cutting letters from various Alphanumeric sets, but I just didn't have enough room, so I ended up computer generating the sentiment. I cut them out, inked the edges in Speckled Egg and adhered to the top of the card. I colored in a few lines around the bottom of the characters feet, added Grit Paste on top, and then sprinkled on some Mica Flakes and pushed them into the Paste for good adherence.
