Creativation 2017 Ranger Designer Challenge

The Evolution of Tim Holtz Distress was the Ranger Designer Challenge this year at Creativation.  What a great idea and theme! I was deeply honored to have been asked by Tim to participate, and my product challenge given was Distress Mica Spray. There are too many Distress products to name, and I could have used any of them as I love them all, but loved this particular challenge. Since the colors are Antiqued Bronze, Tarnished Brass, and Brushed Pewter, I stayed with that metallic palette, and added some Peacock Feathers as well. Can you believe I didn't use reds?!! I almost did. I have 27 step out photos, as this took me almost a week to complete, but I've only included some of the most important today...sorry. I went with a World Peace theme, since the state of world is chaotic right now, and planned everything around my sentiment...

Like the flowers,
we should all be instruments of
peace.
Where there is hatred,
we should all sow seeds of
love.
If these actions are done,
we shall all see an Earthly garden of
joy.
It's hard to see all the elements involved with so much going on, but the step out photos I've chosen will hopefully add some insight into everything.,
I used black gesso on the background first, and then used Wendy's new  Rectangle Frame Stitching Stencil to mark off my holes.
Then I drilled each hole with a very small bit.
I added Peacock Feathers Distress Paint over the gesso, and then sanded areas for a distressed look. Then I pounced over some Alcohol Ink. I stenciled over the whole tag with various stencils and each of the colors of Distress Mica Spray, and then added stenciling with Archival Ink. Then I sealed the whole thing with Distress Micro Glaze...oh the sheen.
I hand stitched the whole border with Tim's new Craft Thread from Coats and Clark.
I make the blocks...hard to notice them as I used every inch of space...I used Grunge Board and Burlap.
I die cut circles for the borders of the blocks and added Grunge Board letters.
I die cut the globe world piece with burlap and made it into a block.
The finished blocks, with lots of Mica Spray. I love how they came out, and it's a shame you can hardly see them.
I cut out all of my favorite children from packs of Found Relatives.
I used Peacock Feathers Paint and all the colors of Mica Spray for the gears.
Here is the layout before all the pieces went on.
I used Eileen Hull's new Twist and Style Tool from Sizzix to make the vines.
Then I made lots and lots of roses from Tim's Tiny Tattered Florals die and Distress Cardstock sprayed with Mica. Everything was adhered with Multi Matte Medium.

CHA's Creativation 2017 Part 3

Hello again, and thank you truly for all the wonderful comments on my last two Creativation posts. Today, it's all about what I have to have...the goods. I am sure I missed a few, but these are my top picks, and in no particular order. Sorry to be an enabler!!! ;0) What do you like???

From Ranger:
Ranger's Texture Paste in Opaque Crackle- This stuff is fabulous, and needs no undercoating to work. It doesn't flake or crack off , and excepts color mediums wonderfully.

From Wendy:
I love her Mat Minis, and the new birthday ones made me swoon. I love the mini cupcakes and candles.
I can never have too many stencils, and I love the sentiments and coordinating stamp, and especially the stitching helpers, which I used on my Designer Challenge piece with Tim's Craft Thread.
I love Archivals and having them in mini form is a bonus for traveling...more space!

From Tim:
The Distress Oxides are a must have...the opaqueness of pigment and translucency of dye ink all rolled into one, and with the help of water the oxide look we all try for using a number of products, but with this only one product is needed. LOVE that!
It's no secret I love all things Idea-ology, and all the new embellies are a must for me!
You can never have enough stamps...right?!! I love the Hipster and On The Farm especially.
I cannot wait for the CityScape series of dies...talk about versatile with whimsical or elegant options. I cannot wait to see everybody's uses with them.
I loved the Coats and Clark booth, and loved all the projects...so inspiring.
I have to brush up on my sewing skills, so I can use the new fabrics to make sturdy and beautiful projects.

From Dina
Her new Media Journal is way too cool with pages of burlap, heavy cotton paper, and canvas. So many people came to thumb through her sample. I can see this becoming an artsy scrapbook easily.
Scribble Sticks are a fun new pigment option. You can color straight from them, water color with them, and they even write on wet mediums..a big plus.

Since I shared Dina's demo space, I got to play with all her goods, and I fell in love with these three sets of stamps. LOVE!!!

 From Dyan:
More Archivals in mini form...oh yes please.

I love that her Creative Dyary is laid out all planner style, with pages to color and alter...super fun!

From Rose Mille:
I love vintage glitz and can never had enough Dresden. It transforms every project with it's own flair.
Yes please!
From Patty Pop-Ons:
You can never have enough substrates, and these are so different. There are a variety of cushy puzzle pieces that except and hold on to a huge variety of mediums.
...with Alcohol Ink pens.
...with Acrylic Paint.
From Eileen:
Eileen always has wonderful Sizzix mat board dies, and I think I own them all, but I especially love her new Travel Journal. You can make planners, journals, books, albums, note pads, etc., all from this one die. Jenny did a fantastic job demoing them, and sold me on the spot.
From Southern Ridge Trading Company:
Sharing with Emerald Creek, and introduced to me by Deb, was Southern Ridge Trading Company, and all their many many thicker than chipboard laser cut pieces. They have more designs than I could imagine, and the details were fabulous...a new must!

Can you believe all that detail in these flowers...WOW!!!
From Maya Road:

Cute and functional!!! Check out the stuff from the latest catalog...so many goodies!

Again, sorry to be an enabler, but I just love these!!!!
