12 Tags of 2016 Remix - June

Hello everyone! It's been a month since I've last blogged. I am so sorry. Sounds like a confession...yikes! But alas, when personal issues arise in my life, I nest...and that means clean, clean, clean, and organize. It helps me to think, plan, and analyze. So the good thing is my house is perfectly tidy! I have been creating though...a lot. It's my therapy, but there has been no blogging about it, and no social media. I just hermit up. Anyway, I'm glad to be back, and hope to really start visiting blogs again soon. I've missed you all, and am really sorry I've been MIA.

So here is my Tim remix tag for 12 Tags of 2016. I originally wanted to do Umbrella Man, but that was at the beginning of the month, and since it's so late now, I've went ahead and created a patriotic take, since the 4th is just around the corner. I totally loved the whole process, and working with the new substrates, which I haven't touch yet. Mixing the Tissue Wrap Collage (my January, 2015, tag here), which is a technique I've used a lot, with the Stencil Plaid technique (my June, 2015, tag here), a technique I haven't touched since, was WONDERFUL! It really is great to mix it up, revisit, and fall in love again with a process. It's pure pleasure!

Since I make #10 sized tags, Tim's Substrate Sheets are a little small, so that is why mine has the border. I stamped the patriotic words lightly by just rubbing the ink on, rather than tapping it on. It's a great and subtle effect. I also stamped the new Halftone Background stamp, both stamped with Wendy's Archival Ink from Ranger.

These Festive Scribbles Stars are not just for Christmas. I thought they'd be great on this. I love the artsy feel of them.

I used the Denim Substrate on my border tag...LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff! It tattered so well too. I wish I would have made my plaid a little darker, but it was so cool to do this on the linen. Great stuff I tell you!

May Flowers Liquid Pearls Card

Hello Crafty Peeps! April showers bring May flowers...right?!! So today, I'm giving you much more detail on a card I made for the Ranger Ink booth at CHA this year that you may remember, using lots of Liquid Pearls and Specialty Stamping Paper...my fav! Enjoy the Purple Flower Garden Card.

 

 

I almost always use a reference photo when I'm painting or drawing. I didn't have any photos of this type of flower that I had taken sadly, so I found this photo on the internet, and I'll show you below how I painted them with Liquid Pearls...yes, you can use it other than just making dots or lines!

I stamped the images with Wendy's Archival Ink, and then heat embossed them with Seafoam Powder. It doesn't matter what color ink you use as the powder covers it up, but I just choose the colors I was going to use. Then I cut them out.

To do the flowers, I used the Liquid Pearls straight from the tube, adding lots of purple tones to really give them depth. Not watering down the LP really gives them depth as well. On the leaves though, I added the LP to the craft sheet and watered it down to paint consistency, because I wanted them to be flat so that the flowers popped more. The shimmer is still there.

I also used Specialty Stamping Paper for the background card. It really is my favorite paper. I squirted the LP out on the craft sheet, and used my finger to apply the paint, making lots of streaks to mimic other stems and leaves in the background.

I also used my finger to make flower petals, just barely dabbing, and using several tones. The shimmer is outstanding!

Everywhere I had purple flower blobs, I stamped a flower in Violet Archival. Then, I stamped lots of stems with Leaf Green Archival. I stitched around the card as well. This was beautiful as is, but of course I had to add more.

I inked the edges of the flowers with Violet, and the stems with Potting Soil, and then I adhered the stems to the card, and foam dotted the flowers. The sentiment was inked in Violet as well. Then I added this to a cardstock card base.

 

 

This card turned out to be my favorite of the ones I did for the show. I love the artsy look of it, and all that shimmer really amplified it. Thanks for looking everyone. Until next time!!!
