Snow Guy

Can you believe it's snowing here today in West Texas...big huge flakes?!! I LOVE it, and hope it sticks around awhile. And the weather reminded me I have a card I forgot to post that I made last month. It's simple, but uses Ranger Alcohol Ink and Gloss Cardstock...some of my favs!  Here is the tutorial as well if you want to make one yourself.
Cut a piece of 12x12 Gloss Paper to 8.5x5.5 inches and fold in half to make an A2 sized card base (4.25x5.5 inches). Cut another 3.75x4.5 inches to use as the sky portion, and other another smaller piece 3x4.5 to use of the snow portion. Also, die cut the Assembly Snowman with the Gloss Cardstock as well.
Shake Snow Cap and Silver Mixative until the ball inside is going crazy, and apply a drop of each into a piece of felt on the Alcohol Ink Applicator Tool. Add about three drops of Sail Boat Blue, and begin pouncing the ink onto the base card front. You don't have to cover the whole thing like I did, as you will only see the edges.
Using the sky portion card, apply Cloudy Blue to a new piece of felt and pounce that on about 3/4 of the way down. Take a Mini Ink Blending Tool, and apply a few squirts of Alcohol Blending Solution and one drop of Snow Cap Mixative to it, let it set a minute, while you layer the Holiday Knit Stencil over the sky. You don't want it too wet. Lightly pounce the tool onto the stencil. You won't see a lot happening, but when you remove the stencil, those portions will be lighter.
Use Cloudy Blue and Snow Cap and pounce that of the smaller piece of Gloss Cardstock and cut those into three smaller pieces larger to smaller.
Apply Pitch Black to the hat, eyes, and buttons, Caramel to the branch arms, Cloudy Blue to the scarf, Poppyfield to the berries, Botanical to the leaf, and Sunset Orange to the nose.
Apply Cloudy Blue and Snow Cap to the bottom and edges of the round snowman body parts.
Tear the edges of the snow pieces, and adhere them together with Multi Matte, staggering the pieces.
Assemble the snowman with Multi Matte and Adhesive Foam for a 3D look. Add Cranberry Stickles to the berries, and do a little line work to the scarf and leaf with a Fude Ball Pen. Ink the edges of the snowman with Jet Black Archival, and snip the edges of the scarf for a frayed look.
Stitch the borders of the sky portion and the snow pieces so that all is together. Stamp the sentiment in Jet Black, and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder.
Attach the sky and snow to the base card using the Adhesive Strips...love those!
Ink the edges of the card with Wendy's Cornflower Blue Archival and stamp the tiny snowflakes onto the bottom portion of the snowman. Give him a quick dry with a heat tool, and attach him onto the card with Foam Tape, tucking him into the bottom of the snow piece. Add Mercury Glass Stickles to the middle of the snowflakes and adhere Mirrored Stars randomly on the card.

Until next time...stay warm!!!

CC3C - Distress Watercoloring Part 2

Hello and happy Saturday! It's time for another challenge, number twenty, in the new Compendium of Curiosities III Challenge!!!  The Curiosity Crew and I absolutely loved at all the entries from the last challenge...you all really sewed it up nicely!!!  It so inspiring!  Thank you for joining in on all the fun, and of course for all of the comments. We hope your new year is off to a good creative start and hope all of you can participate again and again!
Challenge number twenty is using the Distress Watercoloring Part 2 technique. This is a technique to visit again and again as it's so practical and perfect for cards!  I hope you can play along on this challenge so you can win some amazing fabulous prizes donated by the ever generous Tim and Mario, and this challenge's sponsor, The Funkie Junkie Boutique!!! Thank you sponsors for your generosity! You will have two weeks to complete this challenge and link it up to the CC3Challenge site, and you can carefully read all the rules here. Please take the time to visit every member of the Curiosity Crew (See below.) for not only some fun and colorful watercolor inspiration, but for a chance to win some extra goodies!
Since Valentine's Day is coming up, I thought I'd use this technique to make Valentine's, just like I've done ever since I was little. Handmade is best!!!
I stamped the Heart from the Rockstar Stamp Set in Jet Black, and then heat embossed it with Wendy Vecchi's Watering Can Embossing Powder, onto Distress Watercolor Paper...the smooth side.
Next, I stamped the Scrolly Flame thingies (Right?!!) from the same set with Wendy's Geranium Embossing Powder.
After I used Tim's technique for Distress Watercoloring Part 2, I filled in the hearts with Ranger's Crackle Accents.
I wanted some glitz on these artsy Valentines, and I am in LOVE with Ranger's new Foil Sheets, so I knew they would be used for these. I applied Collage Glue Stick to where ever I wanted the foil, and let it sit about 30 seconds to start drying. I laid the Foil Sheet on top of the Glue, Foil side up, and gave it a press, and voila, I had foil where ever the Glue was!!! LOVE this stuff!
I used a Fude Ball Pen to outline the heart a little more, and I added the letters and numbers using the Newsprint Alpha Parts from Idea-ology. Then I stitched the borders of the cards, inked them, and adhered them to Black Cardstock base cards.
