On My Way to CHA!

I have been so crazy busy the last month and a half getting ready to go to the CHA Mega Show in Anaheim. I've been designing samples, AND getting ready for my very first Designer Showcase! I'm nervous and a little scared, but if I don't bite this bullet I'll regret it later. I hope everyone likes the things I'm showing. If you are at CHA this week, stop by Booth 14 and say hi!
I'm also participating in the Charity Wings "Banners of Hope". Charity Wings helps to support people who are ill, as well as give art classes to those who need healing, and partners with other charities. They do some incredible work, and put on some fabulous shows at CHA. There will be several designers making a banner piece, and the banners will be displayed at locations where the Charity Wings volunteers go to help. It's such a cool idea!!!
I finally got to use my Eclectic Elements Fabric by Tim Holtz, and I sewed all over it. However, my bobbin on my sewing machine hates me, so the back doesn't look so good. I hope no one turns it over :0)!!! I gave it a good coat of watered down Claudine Hellmuth Gesso to strength the fabric, and make it feel like canvas. It worked perfectly!
Then I stamped and heat embossed the word Hope. It's fun and easy to heat emboss on fabric...it goes much faster.
I frayed the edges of the letter pieces, and sewed on some burlap to the back.
Then I embellished the banner up with inked lace butterflies and buttons.
Join me on my Facebook page for highlights from the show!

Dice Dice Baby!!!

Hello and Happy New Year everyone!!! I wish all of you peace, love, good health, prosperity, and much craftiness in 2014!!!
The wonderful and talented Eileen Hull, has designed new Cube Dies for Sizzix. These dies have become all the rage, and now her and Amy Bowerman have started a new movement in the crafting world, called Artist Trading Blocks or ATB's using these dies, and their new site The Artists on the Block is the talk of internet town. I was fortunate enough to be given the die cuts to make my own ATB's, and since I did Eileen's Baby 'Punk' Booties in Industrial style, I decided to do the blocks the same way...Industrial Dice! Eileen will be showing these at CHA...at least I hope so.
I mounted foil sheets on manila and cut them to size, 3 inch by 3 inch, and made 12 of them. I used Gold Metallic Mixative from Ranger to color some of the Silver Foil Sheet.
I used six different Tim Holtz Texture Fades from Sizzix to dry emboss each square.
I used Alcohol Ink and Paint Dabber to add some shadowing and definition to the backgrounds, along with a little sanding.
I mounted each square on Eileen's Cube Die pieces.
Then came lots and lots of metal tidbits.
I coated each side with Glue N Seal to protect and really seal everything up. I added Foil Tape to all the edges, and attached a chain to connect the dice.
