12 Tags of 2012 - August

Tim's tag this month was absolutely stunning! I loved the feminine and vintage feel it had, with that tiny bit of grunge as well,  so I wanted to do mine the same way, but I didn't have all the goods. I know wonders never seize...right?!?
So I had to improvise a little. Then there was the trick to making a jumbo tag work (my favorite size), which usually causes me grief, but I made this texture fade work by embossing with it three times to get the effect I needed. I have been collecting cameos for quite some time now, and have a great little stash of them, so I decided to use one here since I didn't have the silhouette stamp. I added lace to the bottom because I didn't have the die to cut it. So then, I thought I ought to just keep going with my improvisations and use some other flowers instead of the gorgeous ones he made with the pinecone die, which I just happen to have. I changed the sentiment up as well, because frankly, I have to remind myself to find the beautiful points and/or things in my daily life when I get so bogged down with other things that are not so beautiful. Always count your blessings!!!
I am submitting this tag to Linda's Compendium of Curiousities II Challenge based on Tim's book of the same name, using his "Perfect Pearls Mist" technique, and to Simon Says Stamp & Show's challenge of "Paint It"...lots of gold acrylic goodness going on here.

The Wearing Of The Plaid

One of my friends is turning the big 5-0 soon, so I thought she needed a little memento of the occasion, but one that didn't scream, "Oh my gosh, I'm 50!".  I wanted to design this around the Everything Wendy Vecchi Yahoo Group's current challenge of "Plaid". I love plaid and couldn't wait to make my own design using Wendy's stamped image of it. There is even a pattern of plaid in Scotland from my family's clan (MacFarland) designed an ion ago. I have always wanted to get a bolt of it to make something grand to wear...someday!
I am also submitting this to Hels Sheridan's Sunday Stamper challenge of "Patterns", and The Stamp Man's Challenge of "Celebrations".
I stamped all my Art Parts using Wendy's stamps  and Archival Ink, and then colored them in with Dylusions Ink Sprays using the water brush pens.

I even used the Dylusions to color the velvet trim.
I trimmed the base and ticket in Pitch Black Acrylic Paint and then used a white pen to add a little more detail.
