Altered Claudine Canvas

One of the best things about Ranger U, was of course, learning from the pros themselves. One of them, Claudine Hellmuth, not only taught us the ropes on what her awesome products can do, but she also taught us how to make a canvas using transfers...so cool. I was able to complete my canvas...or so I thought. Once I came home, I decided it needed more, much more. So now it's my Altered Claudine Canvas used to show off my kids, and it was perfect to use for my Funkie Design Team piece for Frilly & Funkie's fortnightly challenge of "alter it". If you want to play along, you have until May 15th.
You so need to peek at all the other Design Team's blogs for massive inspiration. This is truly a talented team, and I am so fortunate to be able to be apart of it. And, don't forget to hit the Funkie Junkie Boutique for some awesome prices on great product.

This was my original canvas...gorgeous already.
I used Alcohol Ink to stain all my metal pieces to give them a rosy look to coordinate with my canvas.
More staining with Alcohol Ink.
I also colored these green beads with Alcohol Ink to coordinate.
The beads, nails, and bead findings were used to make ornate feet for the canvas.
Paper roses, glass drops with map backgrounds, and seam binding ribbon were added as well.
The numbers were adhered to memo pins, which will hold pictures.  A bird and nest completed all the embellishments.

A Mother's Day Tag

Mother's Day is this weekend, and while I have the Mom's in my life covered, there is one more I can't forget...my best friend, who is second mother to my own children.  I wanted to make her a tag, and with all the challenges out there, I decided to combine four of them for this tag. At Hels Sheridan's Sunday Stamper, the challenge is "browns & blues" (I used the new Peacock Feathers Distress Ink). At Linda Ledbetter's Compendium of Curiosities II Challenge, the technique is "faded layers". Sarah Engels-Greer's Mojo Monthly challenge is "floral frenzy". And then of course there is the "celebrating Mom" challenge at Lisa Somerville's Blogger's Challenge.
