A Mother's Day Tag

Mother's Day is this weekend, and while I have the Mom's in my life covered, there is one more I can't forget...my best friend, who is second mother to my own children.  I wanted to make her a tag, and with all the challenges out there, I decided to combine four of them for this tag. At Hels Sheridan's Sunday Stamper, the challenge is "browns & blues" (I used the new Peacock Feathers Distress Ink). At Linda Ledbetter's Compendium of Curiosities II Challenge, the technique is "faded layers". Sarah Engels-Greer's Mojo Monthly challenge is "floral frenzy". And then of course there is the "celebrating Mom" challenge at Lisa Somerville's Blogger's Challenge.

Travel With Artistic Outpost

First...did you see that moon last night??? WOW!!! Anyway...I am a week late in getting to this, but it's time for the Referral Challenge at Artistic Outpost. This month's challenge is "travel". There are so many sets and images from AO that you can use for this (I used seven). The possibilities are endless.  Make something with this theme and link it up for a chance to win a fabulous prize package. You have until May 31st.
I decided I wanted to use several images from AO that depict travel, so I needed a larger foundation. I went with a jumbo tag, which are my favorite. And, I am excited to tell you that the Funkie Junkie Boutique is now carrying these tags. I haven't been able to find them anywhere else in quantities smaller than 500.
I sprayed Color Wash in Sailboat Blue and added dots of Picket Fence Distress Stain onto my craft sheet. I misted this with water, and then dragged my tag through.
There was enough color to do two more smaller tags....waste nothing!
I used the stain to make clouds.
I also used the stain to stamp the propeller image. It made a nice subtle, almost watermark type of image.
I stamped words using Broken China Distress Ink to complete my background.
I stamped my images in Jet Black Archival onto Specialty Stamping Paper. The images are so crisp...love this paper. Before you touch an image though, give it a good drying with a heat gun.
I colored in my images with Distress Markers, cut them out and adhered them to the tag. I stamped a sentiment as well, and added some more of the same words from the background.
