I hope those of you that celebrate Thanksgiving had a wonderful day! Now that it is over, I have been so busy trying to get Christmas decor up, and that has put me behind on crafting. I did manage to complete a challenge for Grungy Monday this week though. The challenge was to create something using Tim's technique for embossing metal and coloring it with Alcohol Ink like he did with his pumpkin challenge on the Ranger blog. This GM challenge is also being sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.
I wanted to create a stained glass effect, so after I die cut the word "hope" I embossed my metal piece with two of Tim's texture fades that looked like cracked glass. Next, I used three colors of Alcohol Ink as well as a coat of black Glimmer Mist to seep into the cracks to achieve this look. The frame and wall of the window were done by embossing with a wood grain texture fade. I also filled in the spaces of the word with Crackle Glossy Accents to further the look of stained glass. I wish the pictures better represented that. The black trim of the window was done using black enamel paint to give the look of lead. I love the angel stamp from Tim's newer Christmas line of stamps. I gave her a coat of Glimmer Mist after I colored her in. I also had a frame that was dropped and broken, and rather than throwing it away or purchasing new glass, I glued the frame back together, sanded and distress inked it, and attached this project. I love how it is 3D, and you can see and feel all the different textures going on, rather than being flat.
