Masked Dove Sympathy Card

I needed to make a sympathy card for a friend and decided to make one that qualified for Grungy Monday which uses the technique of masking and misting from Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas Day 6 from 2007. I didn't even know about Tim or his 12 Days of Tags back then, but I love the look of his blogging from that time, because it has so much detail more so than than now, probably because we were all learning the terminology or technique in the beginning. It was so cool to see the difference, and refresh the memory. Isn't he wonderful for doing all this work to bring more joy at Christmastime? Thanks Linda (StudioL3) for taking us back in time!
This is a Tattered Angels mask but I had to use spray adhesive to make it stick.

I taped a paper shield to the other side to keep it clean using Tim's tape which is easily removable.
Sprayed with Perfect Pearls mist in Blue Patina and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Electric Blue.
I inked around dove with Tumbled Glass and Faded Jeans.

I poured water into my hands from a Mini Mister and sprinkled it onto the card, causing water droplet images.
I misted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Silver Sugar, angling the bottle to create large droplets.

I die cut a bookplate from Grungeboard using Tim's die Tag & Bookplates. Then coated it with Silver Paint Dabber.
This was ran through Vagabond using the Checkerboard Texture Fade.

Next, I misted it with Tattered Angels Black Magic and let it set a few minutes to really seep into the cracks.
I applied Perfect Pearls Blue Patina onto alternating squares of the checkboard pattern.

On the inside piece that fits into the frame, I double coated it with White Picket Fence Distress Stain. When it dried I stamped my sentiment.
2 brads were placed into the holes and a thick layer of Glossy Accents was added to give the illusion of glass.

Textured Tissue Wrap Birthday Card

Last week on Wendy Vecchi's blog she demoed a technique using Tim Holtz's Tissue Wrap, that she and now I am totally consumed with. She ran Glue Glider Pro High Tac adhesive (the one with the dots) down on a project and laid the tissue wrap on top. Doing so made the dots from the adhesive show through the tissue tape thereby giving it even more depth and creating texture. This was further enhanced by applying Distress Stain, another new fav of mine. I decided to try the new technique on a birthday card for bestie Paula. I also stamped on the borders of the card and added Perfect Pearls to the image. I am in love with the look, and I wish the pictures really showed the sheen on the card better. I loved the background so much I used the same technique, now coined "textured tissue wrap" by me, on a Maya Road transparent bird embellishment. Also, the photo and phrase on the card was taken from an old one I had that is now repurposed for Paula. I also baked her an almond torte, one of her favorites. There is nothing like a great friend who inspires you to create something wonderful and I hope she has an awesome day.  Happy birthday Paula!!!  And...thank you Wendy and Tim for your creations that inspire us all.
