Rusted Winged Heart Wall Art

Hello All!!! Here's a quick post today, to show you what I taught at The Collins Group Fall Show in Orlando, Florida, last week, to a bunch of awesome scrapbook/arts and crafts store owners from the United States and Canada. Sponsored by Canvas Corp, I coached 14 ladies to make this 12 x 12 inch burlap panel using a Canvas Corp's Naturally Aged Kit and some Mixed Media Origins Paper. A huge THANKS goes out to all the ladies who participated and left me such awesome feedback, as well as to the generous folks at Canvas Corp. I so enjoyed getting to meet those of you I didn't know, and I send out a big hug to you!

Look for the class at your local store to see if they are teaching this in the near future, and you will learn a whole lot about some of Canvas Corp's newer goodies!

A Hot Cup of Tea Please!

It's starting to get chillier here at night, an although I drink hot green tea every morning, the cooler temps make me want a cup of hot tea at night. So last night, as I put on the kettle, I was reminded that I had one more card from CHA this year, that I had made for Ranger, that I hadn't blogged yet. Sorry. I totally forgot, and this is the last one from the event, but one that I loved because I love old china. Now grab a hot cup and enjoy!
I love that old Floral Tattoo Stamp Set from Tim and Stamper's Anonymous, and I knew it would make the best design for a look a like old Wedgwood pattern, but since it's a wedge shape I couldn't figure out how to stamp it, so I cut the stamp. INSERT GASP! It's okay to cut a stamp...you can still stamp the whole design once it's on a stamping block. So I die cut the Tea Time die from Sizzix with Specialty Stamping Paper...my fav...and stamped with Cobalt Archival Ink. I had to use lots of masking papers, as you can see, to finally get the look I wanted.
I gave the edges a distress look with the help of an Antique Linen Distress Marker and Mini Ink Pad. It smudges beautifully on SSP. If the Distress Collage Medium in Crazing was out then, I would have slathered it on too...next time!
I tried a few blues, but the Royal Blue Liquid Pearls, was the right color...appropriate name I think! I very careful tried to outline the stamped image. It is thicker in spots, but I think makes it look more vintage, and I love the raised feel. Liquid Pearls are a must in my stash!
I die cut the Nostalgic Coredinations with the Mixed Media Thinlet, sanded, and inked it over with Wendy's Potting Soil, and mounted it on a Metallic Coredinations card. I LOVE the Metallic papers! Then I stitched around.
Once the Royal Blue was dry, I added Brass Liquid Pearls to the rims.
I die cut the words from Tim's Handwritten Love and Journey, and traced those with more Royal Blue. Then I inked the Chit Chat sticker with Antique Linen, and started to assemble the card. To make the tea bag attachment, I stencil in with Pumice Stone and the Gothic Layering Stencil, and used Remnant Rubs for the wording. I gave the Silverware Adornment a little Potting Soil rub too. Finished!  Except it could use a few clumps of sugar!!! ;0)

Thank you so very much for looking and commenting! I appreciate all of you, and wish we could all go to tea together...Oh how I love to go to high teas! Until next time...

Tim Holtz Paddles For The Crafty Scrapper

Happy September everyone! Time is sure flying by this year. Anyway, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Tim Holtz event at The Crafty Scrapper in July, and Carolyn, the owner, asked me to help her and her manager, Gena, to make some numbered paddles for customers to shop while attending classes. I made 16 of the 43, and used techniques from Tim's Compendium of Curiosities series. Here they are. Also, if you would like to see the others that Gena and Carolyn made, click on over to The Crafty Scrapper. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy!
Thanks so much for looking, and for those of you who attended the classes, and gave me compliments on the paddles, MWAH to you!

Hello crafters! Before I get to it, I would just like to thank everyone who looked, commented here or my FB page, and viewed my last post and video...my cup runneth over. WOW...Truly thank you! Okay...Today, I have photos of the new classes I'll be teaching for the upcoming holidays. I am also teaching some older classes as well. I will be in the Houston area, at The Croppin Bug in La Marque, and Dallas area, at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie. Check my calendar for specific dates and projects if you are interested. These will be my last public classes of the year. Thanks so very much for looking.
An Autumn Trio of Distress Crayon Tags
We will play with lots of techniques using Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, and Tim Sizzix dies and Idea-ology, as well as some Wendy Vecchi goodies.

Ranger Mediums Technique Class
We will play with almost every Ranger wet medium, and create 12 tags to reference for future use, filled with techniques.

Oh Snow Good Christmas Hanging
There will be lots of playing with Tim's Found Relatives and ephemera to make this snowy hanging, and we will learn a few techniques along the way.  Students will have their choice of seven images and ephemera.

Do You Want To Paint A Snowman? Mixed Media Canvas
This class will be super fun, as we play with all of Dina Wakley's Media from Ranger, and some Tim goodies too, to make this huge 16x20 inch 3D canvas. There will be lots of customization as well.

If you can join me in any of these or the older classes, I promise a day of learning and fun. Thanks again for looking!

The Yeti Tumbler Craze!

I'm back again this week, and this time to bring you a video...shocking I'm sure since I haven't done one in years. This one is How To Hydro Dip A Metal Tumbler.  I learned to do this, because last Christmas, I purchased painted Yeti tumblers for all the members of my family, and they were so super expensive, and only came in one color, so I talked to a friend at the hardware store,  and learned to paint the tumblers myself, and enhance them with Ranger Archival Inks and Tim Holtz Stencils.  I've given them out as gifts, and in so doing, everyone wanted to know how to do it, so here is the video and the pictures of the tumblers I've done so far. I will make a lot more soon.

If you notice the ones with 'T' and 'M', you probably have a good guess who received those. ;0) This was super fun to do, and will really work with any metal tumbler or most metal items. If you make one, send me the photo!

12 Tags of 2016 Remix - August

I'm a bad bad blogger. Sorry everyone...I've been swamped, with designing, making, and kitting classes, doing taxes, and getting kids ready to start school. WHOOP...they are back in school...I am a bad mom for wanting them to go back!!! Shame! And...I've made time for Creative Chemistry 103...what a class!  But, I made this tag and the birthday cards weeks ago, but I've just now been able to blog them. I sure need more time in a day. Anyway, here is my August tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2016 Remix. I totally forgot what my July, 2013, Brayed Stains tag looked like from way back then (Oh my gosh...how could I forget...seeing it again brought back memories and tears.), and I so do not use the Frameworks Dies enough, so the April, 2014, tag (Also, given to my mother and mother in law...yikes!) was a good reminder to start using them more. That's why this Remix is so helpful to me, and it's great to revisit the old posts to see what was going on in my life back then...like a diary...and rereading comments from those posts is sure inspiring and helpful too. Thank you everyone for all your past comments...I am so blessed. Also, those little pieces inside the Frameworks sure do pack a punch of detail. Both my mother and mother in law, whom the birthday cards were made for, commented how much they liked the individual pieces, and it's always so nice to hear that your work made an impact. Thanks for helping me out there Tim! Thank you truly for all the inspiration over all these years....thanks to all of you actually!
I went with #8 tags from Ranger to make the cards, and added more paper, and of course the numbers for their age. Those two women are really role models, and man oh man have they lived.

Sorry for no step outs this time, but I really stayed with Tim, minus the different colors, a little more stitching, and the addition of the butterflies and flowers. I really love the summery feel, and more importantly the moms loved their cards...the tag is for me! ;0)
I will try and get by to everyone's blogs soon...don't think I've forgotten you. I'll be back soon...I hope!
