Wax On Wednesday - Three

Happy hump day! It's Wednesday and time to show you my third go at Encaustic Wax landscapes. I am getting faster at it now, and thought it was time to start adding more detail. Hope you enjoy, and again BIG THANKS for all the words of encouragement!!!

Pops of pink flowers here, and I love how the Encaustic Iron dragged the wax on the water part to make it look like ripples and reflections! With encaustics you never know what you will get while using the iron, and I just like to go with it....what ever shows up I try to work with!

I added drops of wax to make the flowers and foliage in the foreground this time. The texture is wonderful on this Autumn like piece. AND... I finally got the hang of making birds a little better.

Rubbing away wax to make room for water is definitely my new favorite. I love that you never know what you will get with this technique. Dragonflies still need help, but are getting somewhat better.

Next week, I am going to be showing you a step out on one of the pieces...at least I hope I can remember to take photos. Stay tuned! Again...huge thanks on all the comments!

Wax On Wednesday - Two

Hey hey hey!!! A warm welcome to the second Wax On Wednesday...pun intended! A BIG thanks for all the comments on the first Wax On Wednesday!!! I loved all the feedback and appreciate you all so much! 

The excitement for me is still huge on my second day of making encaustic wax scenes. I played around a lot more after watching more videos on Encaustic TV. They make it look so easy, but I have to say Day 2 was a little easier for me as I am getting the hang of the iron. I hope you enjoy these.

It's difficult to see this, but there are layers of tissue paper and Tissue Wrap along with Encaustic Medium. You can actually see the layers on top of each other upon close up inspection, like 3D. It's very cool.

This is a simple scene with the wax tree and grass, and the sky is Dylusions. It resists the wax.

I used the Mini Melt Iron to make these flowers and used Dylusions for the background.

A simple desert scene. I am still learning to make lines for trees and plants.

I love making a monochromatic scene with the wax. It's really fast to do as well. I think I made this one in about 2 minutes.

I watched the video on the fantasy scenes and then made this. Another quick make, and learning to make reflections in water was so interesting.

This is my favorite scene so far. I rubbed the wax away to make the stream, and then rubbed blue wax on with my finger.

My husband is taking this to his office. It's not often he likes something I make so much he steals it. I still need practice making dragonflies, but the colors and textures on this is great.

CC3C - Cabinet Card Pocket

Holy creative cow...it's the second week in November already! Christmas is just around the corner! Yikes! I hope I haven't stressed anybody out!!! It's also time for another challenge in the new Compendium of Curiosities III Challenge!!! Kudos to all the entrants and for all the comments, and kudos for following all rules! Those of you that play along every time deserve a big round of applause, AND those of you who are new to the challenges deserve the biggest kudos! This is a heavy photo laden post (30 of them!) so grab a cup of brew and a snack! I decided to add content pages to my Family Recipe Album that you've seen in CC3C Worn Cover. The album now has a decorated inside and four content pages...Appetizers, Main Dishes, Side Dishes, and Desserts. Each page has old family photos on them with the Cabinet Card Pockets.

I trimmed down Kraft Paper from Ranger to the size of the pages that will go in the album.

Tim's Binder Punch made the holes for the pages after I folded them over a bit to provide more sturdiness.

Stenciling and inking came next.

I added paper to the front followed by inking and Distress Spray Stain for a great worn look.

The Wallflower Vellum Paper Stash providing great backgrounds for the Cabinet Card Pockets. I also used the new Vellum Ephemera.

I used Alcohol Ink to alter some mini flatware to use as embellishments.

Here is my last sheet of the Thanksgiving Recipe Cards from Tim's Seasonal Paper Stash. I LOVE this design.

I didn't have any more photo paper, so I used regular paper, mounted it, and gave it a textured coating of Multi Matte Medium. I LOVE the texture it created!

It was time to try Wendy's new Embossing Powder. I had to have pops of red of course, so I embossed the centers of the Foliage Flowers.
