For my project this week, I decided to go with a jumbo tag and use a bit of Dyan's Dylusions (background) as well as Wendy's Studio 490 (background and sentiment), and a trusty old favorite Jolee's Boutique. I love the colors of this challenge so much and this tag was very fun to make. It can be used for so many different occasions as well.

May ATC's

At the Everything Wendy Vecchi Yahoo Group, there was a challenge for making a Wendified (yes, that's a word) ATC. I created mine for my bestie Paula who is about to go on a creative trip with me. She never reads my blog, much to my chagrin, so it's okay that I show it before she gets it. As it happens, Hels Sheridan's Sunday Stamper challenge this week is "queens & crowns", and The Stamp Man Challenge is "card for a queen" so this was perfect!

This month at the All Things Tim Yahoo Group the ATC swap challenge is "yellow".  You will remember these brightly dressed cuties from my A Man's Home Is His Castle. They were my extras. I knew I would use them for something.

Shattered Stains Butterflies

This week at Studio L3's Compendium of Curiosities II Challenges, the 5th technique is Tim's "shattered stains", and this challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. The technique is so gorgeous and really takes a project to a whole new level.
I created my background with Distress Stain and Distress Ink. The images are all stamped in Adirondack Paint Dabbers.

Get Your Kicks On Route 66!!!

It's time for the Artistic Outpost Design Team Blog Hop!!! Our challenge this month was to use either the Huck Finn or Route 66 stamp sets. I choose the latter, and decided to do a postcard, just like I did with my On The Texas Road Again...hmmm, I'm feeling a a postcard theme set starting to take shape.

Don't forget to visit all the other AO Design Team's blogs and take a gander at their ultra cool creations. These gals have amazing talent and creativity galore!
I stamped the map image with Pumice Stone Distress Ink several times Specialty Stamping Paper.
I stamped the other images onto this map paper using Jet Black Archival Ink, colored them in with Distress Markers, and then cut them out.
A added water to Claudine's Gesso to thin it out a bit, and then brushed it onto Tim's Destinations paper to tone down the images a little, so mine would not be lost. I did this twice, and wished I would have only done it once...it's a little too toned down.
Here is the before and after the Gesso.
I stamped the other images from the plate onto the background paper with Jet Black Archival. I adhered this to white cardstock, giving it a border now.
I added back a little color when I stamped my last image from the plate, a Saguaro Cactus, in Lettuce Adirondack Pigment Ink.

Oh Baby!!!

Every time I  have a baby shower to go to, I make a card or tag using this Madonna and Child image by Stampington & Company's Leonardo Da Vinci Collection. I have loved this painting from the master himself ever since Art History in college, and I think it's perfect for these occasions. I was delighted that the Blogger's Challenge theme this week was "oh baby", and I knew instantly I would use this image.

Forever And A Day!

As you have heard me so many times before, I love Love!!! So I could not pass up the opportunity to participate in the Reader Art Quest 1 at Unruly Paper Arts for "weddings, anything but a card". By the way, if you check back over there on the 17th, you will find a tutorial of mine that they published. That was very exciting!
Everything here is pretty basic, except the wedding dress, which I am so proud of. I used Tim's Mini Dressform die, and started adding layers of lace to it until I achieved the desired length. I cut tulle to form the bodice and arms and added lace to the borders of it. The rhinestone embellishments are from the Prima flourishes. I think this would be a cool little embellishment on a present for a bridal shower.
I am also submitting this to Simon Says Stamp & Show's challenge of "anything goes".

OCC Is A Little Sketchy!?!

Fellow Texan, Meihsia Liu of Simply Paper Crafts, is hosting this week at Our Creative Corner.  Her challenge is to create a card or project using the sketch below, and use a ribbon bow on it.
If you need inspiration or just care to have a gander, please visit the rest of the Design Team and check out their wonderful projects. Our guest designer for the week is none other than Miss Thumb Linky herself, Sandra Mouwen, of Made By Sannie.

This is my first sketch challenge at OCC, and you know how sketchy I can be in my designs, so having to do a project already laid out (?) and use a bow (???) was quite difficult for me, so this really was a challenge. I am not used to anything like this, and I stay away from all challenges that are sketches. I am a fancy free kind of gal, I don't like rigidness. BUT, I have to admit it was FUN, and I am always up for a challenge. I hope I did Meihsia proud!
I further decided to add more challenges though. At Unruly Paper Arts, the Reader Art Quest 2 challenge was to "use lace", and over at Simon Says Stamp & Show, the challenge this week was "favorite stamp". After a lot deliberation with myself I narrowed it down to four, and of the four the ornate frame in the center won. At the present time, I believe it's my favorite stamp. It has a plethora of uses and looks uber cool pretty much any way you use it! Now you can see that I was really under duress this week with all these predicaments!!! Oh how I love what I do!!!
4th and 3rd choices where stamped in Jet Black Archival  on to kraft paper, and then cut out.
This was adhered to black cardstock and cut out again.
More 3rd choice stamping for the background of the kraft card. Hmmm...should I move this to second choice??? No, no, no...stop it now!
Squeezed lemonade has been staring at me since last week, so it was time to use her. I just swiped straight from the pad on to the kraft paper. I really can't get enough of last week's color challenge at OCC...really loving the yellow and craft combination! I added two rows of Lace Tape as well.
And the winner...Mr. Ornate Frame...was stamped in Jet Black and heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder on to kraft paper.
And a solid number two, the butterfly, was stamped into the middle of the frame in Jet Black and by itself on to kraft and heat embossed as well.
I was going to leave the stamped butterfly alone in the center, but decided to have more 3D action, so I cut and the frame out. The butterflies were colored in with Distress Markers. I added some gold accents with  Liquid Pearls, stick pins for antennae, a flower, a puny bow, and the sentiment.
