Tim Holtz Sizzix Christmas 2024 - Christmas Magic City Card

Hello All and Happy September (Stamptember too!). I know I say it every time, BUT... Did you watch the Tim Holtz Sizzix Vault Christmas Release Live??? OH MY GOSH! FABULOUS JUST FABULOUS!!! The projects were ALL AMAZING and spirit lifting with the Christmas and Holiday themes. My heart is happy having just watched it, and my head is full of ideas and inspiration. I am so honored to be apart of it. Here is a Christmas Card I made shown in the Live, made with the new Vault Series of Dies...Christmas Magic, Holiday Classics, and Seasonal Sketch. This whole year of Vault goodness has been wonderful to revisit these older shapes and images all in new sizes. Even though I have all the original dies, it's been so long since I've used most. So revisiting them and actually digging through my stash for older loot has been refreshing. Thank you Tim! Enjoy everyone.

 

Cut a piece of Black Kraftstock to 4.5 x 6.5 inches. Die cut 5 of one of the words from the Vault Holiday Classics Thinlits using whatever cardstock you want as these will be masks only (I used 'wish'.). Place the Kraftstock in a spray box or only papertowels, and arrange the 5 words on it evenly. Shake the Uncharted Mariner Distress Spritz from Ranger well, and then mist over the words covering the paper. Clean the hole of the Spritz before putting it up so it won't clog next time. Carefully remove the words and use them for another project. Let this dry. 

 

 

 Shake up the Weathered Wood Distress Spritz and then mist it over the whole paper minus the masks this time. Clean the hole of the Spritz as before, and let this dry and set aside.

 

  

Apply two sided tape to the back of six colors of Metallic Classics Kraftstock, making sure each piece will be big enough for the 'city scape' die. Apply two sided tape to the back of three pieces of red and three pieces of green from the Metallic Jewels Kraftstock, making sure each piece will be big enough for the 'city scape' die. Using the Vault Christmas Magic Thinlits, the 'city scape' die, die cut all 12 of the pieces so you will have 6 of the Metallic Classics and three each of the green and red Metallics, but do not remove any of the windows from the red and green, and save the scraps on the red and green as you will need those. Only remove the windows from the Classic Metallics. (Sorry the picture does not show the red and green before layering.) Remove the backing on the Classic Metallic ones and adhere them over the red and green ones, so that you will see either green or red in the windows of the Classic color city scapes.

 

   

Add more two sided tape to a piece of Black Metallic from the Classics collection big enough for Santa and the sleigh, and then die cut it. Add two sided tape to some silver for the base of the 'moon' die  as well as another Santa Sleigh, and die cut those. Add two sided tape to some Watercolor Cardstock and die cut the top layer of the moon and then remove the inner pieces of it. Using the scraps from the green and red Metallic Kraftstock, die cut the letters...3 H's and 3 O's...from the Vault Seasonal Sketch Thinlits. Ink around the edges of both in the inside and out of the moon face with Lost Shadow Distress Ink, and then layer it on top of the silver base. Layer the Black Metallic Santa over the Silver Metallic Santa with the Silver showing a shadow to the right side a bit, and then ink around the edges of the Santa Sleigh with Black Soot Distress Ink. 

 

 

 Cut and fold a Kraft cardstock base card to 5 x 7 inches, and ink the edges with Black Soot. Cut a silver metallic mat to 4.75 x 6.75 inches and add to the front of the Kraft. Ink the edges of the misted words piece with Black Soot, and then adhere the misted words piece on top. Remove the backing of the silver city scape and adhere it above 1.25 inches above the bottom edges of the misted words piece. You will have three rows of city scape (silver, gold, and black last) that you will stagger and so that all the towers can be seen, and you will use the light gold, darker gold, and copper city scape pieces as fill ins by cutting each building off separately and layering them on an existing matching building. Some of the bottom buildings will need foam tape to stand out and be layered nicer so have it close by. So in my picture, I worked on a silver, gold, and black row of city scape pieces first before adhering everything on until I liked the placement of the light gold, darker gold, and copper pieces that I cut off. I also inked the edges of all the pieces with Black Soot before adhering. To finish off, I cut a strip of Watercolor Cardstock the same length of the city scapes and cut the upper border to look like rolling hills. Then I misted it lightly with more Weathered Wood Distress Spritz and then added this on. I staggered the 'HO HO HO' onto this and adhered those on, and I added the moon above and then Santa.

Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous Halloween 2024 - Boo Sheet Halloween Party Treat Sacks & Tags

And I'm back to show you the last little project to go with the Boo Sheet Halloween Party theme, using the new stamps and stencils from Tim Holtz and Stamper's Anonymous, and seen in the Live last Saturday. I really can think of several other decor pieces to make with these for a party, as the images are so stinking cute. Don't you agree? Enjoy these Treat Sacks and Tags! 

 

(NOTE: The Archival Ink takes a bit longer to dry on the glassine, so take care not to smear it, or use a heat tool to help dry.) Place a white glassine bag in the platform and take the small extra ghost stamp on the lower right side of the glassine just for placement so don't close the lid yet. Take the mini witch's hat, broom, and pumpkin pail from the Mini Bird Crazy & Things and figure out the best placement of them using the little ghost. Remove the ghost and then stamp the mini things in Black Soot from Ranger.  Place another glassine bag in and repeat and do as many as you want. Clean the stamps off by stamping the remaining ink from them onto a large sticky note, and then cut the images out. You are finished with these stamps so remove them.  Place the sticky notes on the images and then add the little ghost on and stamp it in Black Soot over the sticky notes. Place another glassine bag in and repeat and do as many as you want.  Clean this stamp off on another sticky note and cut it out. Remove the little ghost as you are finished with it.  Take the large ghost stamp and place it next to the little witch ghost in the center area of the glassine just for placement so don't close the lid yet. Take the bowler hat and pumpkin pail from the Crazy Things and figure out the best placement of them using the large ghost. Remove the ghost  and then stamp the images in Black Soot. Place another glassine bag in and repeat and do as many as you want. Clean the stamps off by stamping the remaining ink from them onto another sticky note, and then cut the images out. You are finished with these stamps so remove them.  Place the sticky notes on the images as well as the broom sticky note,  and then add the large ghost on and stamp it in Black Soot over the sticky notes. Place another glassine bag in and repeat and do as many as you want. Clean this stamp off on another sticky note and cut it out. Remove the large ghost as you are finished with it. Place all the sticky notes on the images and then arrange the large web over them and close the lid to secure the stamp. Stamp the web in Hickory Smoke Archival Ink. Place another glassine bag in and repeat and do as many as you want. Remove this stamp and add the two sentiments or whatever you want, as well as the bow tie on the large ghost, and stamp them in Black Soot Archival Ink. Remove all the stickys and save for another time. Place another glassine bag in and repeat and do as many as you want, and don't worry about the sticky notes anymore.

 

Take #8 Black Tags for as many of the treat sacks as you are making, and cut off the bottom two inches on each and save those for another project. Place a tag in the platform and add a sentiment from the Halloween Whatnots Stamp Set just below the tag holes. Speaking of the tag holes, I don't like that brownish color for these tags so I color it in with Black Soot Archival Ink, FYI. Close the lid to secure the sentiment and then stamp it with Glacier White Pigment Ink a few times to make it nice and bright. Repeat with more tags and sentiments. Let this ink dry a while or use a heat tool. Take the Mini Jacks Layering Stencil and place it below the sentiment along the bottom border of the tag so that two open pumpkins are centered along the bottom. Using a clean foam and ink blending tool, ink in the solid pumpkins with Glacier White Pigment Ink and then let dry. If you get white anywhere you don't want it use a black pen and Black Soot Archival to cover it up....the beauty of using a black surface.

 

Using Distress Watercolor Pencils and a Detail Waterbrush, color in the parts of the sentiments that you want, as well as oranges for the solid pumpkins with green stems, but I kept the center pumpkin white, as well as the accessories on the ghosts with the glassine bags.  Keep in mind that the pencils will color over the black portions, but again you can use a pen to color them back black on the tags. The water makes the glassine slightly buckle but it will flatten out when dry. See below for the colors I used. For the witch's buckle on the hats, I used Antique Bronze Distress Crayon with the Waterbrush. Use a white pen to add dots in each of the centers of the eyes, as well as add eyelashes to the little witch. Let the bags dry well. Place the face part of the Jacks stencil over the pumpkins and use Black Soot Archival to color them in. Select letters for a name or initials using the Halloween Transparent Tiles and secure those on to the bottom of the tag edge using two sided tape. Crinkle up some Halloween Fringe and use two sided tape to secure it on over the top of letters. Add ribbon to the tag hole and tie it onto the fold down bag through a hole made with a hole punch once your bag is filled with treats.

Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous Halloween 2024 - Boo Sheet Halloween Party Favors

Hello again! Here are some party favors for the Boo Sheet Halloween Party, made with the new stamps from Tim Holtz and Stamper's Anonymous as seen in the Live last week. I just totally love the little ghosts, and really tried hard to make time to also make a banner as that would be too cute, but I'll leave that up to you all, as time did not permit. Enjoy!

 

(I only made four but you can make as many as you want.) Cut a piece of White Heavystock to about 6 x 6 inches or so for ample room to stamp four ghosts and their accessories (the top three from the Spooky Spirits Set and the little extra ghost from the Boo Crazy Set), and place it in the platform. Doing one ghost stamp at a time, place one of them on a corner portion on the paper just for placement so don't close the lid yet. Take the mini accessories that you want (hats, pumpkin pail, bows, etc.) from the Mini Bird Crazy & Things and figure out the best placement of them using the ghost you selected. Remove the ghost and then stamp the mini things in Black Soot from Ranger. Clean the stamps off by stamping the remaining ink from them onto a sticky note, and then cut the images out.  Place the sticky notes on the images and then add the ghost on and stamp it in Black Soot over the sticky notes. Repeat this process for all the remaining ghosts. Once you have all the ghosts you want with all their accessories, cut them out.

 

 

Cut a piece of Kraft Cardstock to 2 x 8 inches, and place it in the platform. Arrange four of the 'boo sentiments' from the Spooky Spirits Stamp Set or whatever one you'd like to use, evenly in the center of the paper (so about 1/2 inch wide space for each) and close the lid to secure, and then stamp in Black Soot. Cut these apart in 1/2 inch strips, and add two sided tape to the backs.

 

 

Using Distress Watercolor Pencils and a Detail Waterbrush, color in the parts of the accessories on the ghosts that you want. Keep in mind that the pencils will color over the black lines, so you will need to use a black marker to fix them like I did. See below for the colors I used.  Use a white pen to add dots in each of the centers of the eyes, and a black marker to make eyelashes on the girls. Using more White Heavystock, cut 1/4 inch by about 3 inch strips for the straps that will hold the ghosts on the straws and add two sided tape to them.

 

Ink the edges of the ghosts and kraft sentiments strips with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. Take the straws and kraft strips first and wrap one around the straw in half to see where you will bend it so that the wording will be seen about 1.5 inches from the top of the straw. Remove the tape backing and press the wording together around the straw. Use scissors to fish tails the ends and then ink those edges. Take a white strip in the middle and press the middle part around the straw to form it around with arms remaining flat out, and then remove the backing to secure it about 1.5 inches from the wording. Add a ghost onto the arms of the white strip pressing to secure it, and then trim any of the arms hanging off the back of the ghost. Unravel the Halloween Fringe and roll it around your palm to fluff it up. Cut off 2 one inch strips and add two sided tape to the back, and then secure one above the wording and one below the ghost. Repeat for as many as you'd like.

Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous Halloween 2024 - Boo Sheet Halloween Party Invitations

Hello Everyone! How about that Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous Halloween Release Live?!! Amazing makes for sure, just a WOW! AND, the new stamps and stencils are so super FUN, and I had a blast making with them! I went all out on a BOO SHEET Halloween Party Theme, as the Boo Sheet phrase is big around these parts, so having a party theme seemed natural. All three of my projects seen in the Live go together and were so easy to make, so I'll start with the invitations first. Enjoy!

 

Cut a piece of Kraft Cardstock to 4 x 5.5”. Die cut the paper with the Big Ticket Bigz Die from Sizzix. Repeat for as many invites as you like. Place the ticket in the platform and take the Ghost in the Graveyard image from the  Framed Frights Stamp Set, and arrange it on the very left side of the ticket, and stamp in Black Soot Distress Archival Ink from Ranger. Repeat with as many invites as you like. Leave this in the platform if you can in case you need to restamp later after coloring. If you have another platform add the ticket in it, if not, work from the other side of the platform with the Graveyard safely away from the ticket. Select the '31' from the Sign Painter Set, as well as select images from the Tidbits Stamp Set that go with the theme of the ticket (admit one, see other side, ticket number, arrive at 9 pm, month chart) and place them on the ticket playing with the placement with the '31' first and the other images around them keeping in mind the linear and compartment like style of a ticket front. Once you like it remove the '31' and close the lid to secure the other images, and then stamp them in Black Soot Archival. Repeat with as many invites as you like. Remove the images as you are finished with them, and add the '31' on where it needs to go. Stamp it first in Glacier White Pigment Ink, and then in Spiced Marmalade Oxide Ink. The reason to use the white first is to make sure the '31' is nice and bright orange, but you don't have to if you don't have the white ink. Give the '31' a little heat to dry or let it dry naturally for a bit. Repeat with as many invites as you like. Take a piece of White Heavystock and stamp the pointing finger for as many invites as you need as well as the 'boo sheet' sentiment from the Spooky Spirits in Black Soot Archival. Add two sided tape to the back of this and cut the finger out as well as block style cut the sentiment and set those aside for now.

 

Use the Big Ticket Bigz Die again to die cut White Heavystock tickets this time for as many invites as you need. Place one in the platform and arrange the top three ghosts from the Spooky Spirits Set and the little extra ghost from the Boo Crazy Set in each corner of the ticket so that just half their bodies will be seen and the middle of the ticket is wide open. This is just for placement so don't close the lid yet. Take the mini accessories that you want (hats, pumpkin pail, bows, etc.) from the Mini Bird Crazy & Things and figure out the best placement of them on each of the ghosts, even though you will only be able to stamp them one at a time you need to know the placement beforehand so that middle area will still be open. Starting with one of the ghosts, remove it and leave the accessories in place and close the lid. Don't worry about removing the other ghosts as you won't ink those yet, and they are just holding their places. Stamp the mini things in Black Soot. Repeat with as many invites as you like. Clean the stamps off by stamping the remaining ink from them onto a sticky note, and then cut the images out.  Place the sticky notes on the images and then add the ghost on and stamp it in Black Soot over the sticky notes. Remove that ghost, and then repeat this process for another ghost, but when it comes to the sticky note accessories keep in mind which masks you already have so you don't have to keep cutting more. Again repeat with as many invites as you like. Remove the ghost and then do another until all four are stamped with their accessories. Repeat with as many invites as you like. Then stamp the bows and glasses in Black Soot as well. I missed the bow a bit on one ghost so I drew in a piece of hair to tie them back together. Use a fine black pen to add eyelashes to the girls.  

 

 

Using a permanent bold black pen and a ruler, add lines around the parts of the front of the ticket, and then along the embossed lines border on the white ticket. Ink the edges of both with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. Using the wording from the Life of the Party, Tiny Text, and Spooky Spirits Stamp Sets, arrange them on the white ticket center portion for your instructions of the party. Some of the wording I couldn't find in full, so I cut words and letters apart, as you can see, which made for some wonky stamping even though I really tried to line things up, so keep that in mind. Perhaps you can find better phrases to add. Once you like the wording, stamp it in Black Soot Archival. I couldn't find a stamp with 'party' so I used Label Letters to make it. I used a black pen for the question mark as well.

 

 

For the front of the envelopes stamp more accessories and another ghost like you did before using your previous sticky note masks.

Keep in mind that the pencils will color over the black lines, so you will need to restamp the cemetery part you left in the platform or you can use a black marker to fix them like I did. Tim Holtz Sizzix Autumn/Halloween 2024 - Halloween Brooches

Hello Everyone! I'm back again with my other make from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Autumn/Halloween 2024 Live, the Halloween Brooches. I really want to thank you all for all the wonderful comments on the Autumn Brooches...my cup runneth over. I had no idea that the reason I made the brooches (in honor and remembrance of my Mother) would resonate with so many of you. It makes my heart glad. These Halloween brooches are made the same as the Autumn, with many layers, and then with resin, but I did add some more bling to this set. There were many more designs that I wanted to do, especially with the ghosts, but I ran out of time...so I will probably make those sometime soon. Enjoy, and again a HUGE THANKS!

This picture is pretty much a culmination of several steps, but you know after the last tutorial for the Autumn Brooches that you have to plan what you need out first, and that takes a bit.  This time I only used Metallic Classics and Colors with Deco Sheets. I added two sided tape to the back of what I would be using, and then started die cutting the parts I wanted from the Vault Foliage Wreath, Fright Night, Gothic Portraits, and Wicked Thinlits as well as the frames from Vault Boutique for the cat/moon and silhouette girl/witch hat, and the banner from that set for the word wicked.  I die cut the same pieces again for about three layers to add to the thickness of the piece but I didn’t adhere them, and then I die cut the same again BUT from the backside of the Kraftstock with the two sided tape side up for the backing of each piece so that the backside of the brooch looks nice and finished. Once I die cut I started playing with the pieces to figure out the layout and size of the brooch always keeping in mind the closeness of the parts so that the pin wouldn’t show through from the front, so I kept the pin handy to help guide myself.  I layered the pieces and kept them close together to add to the sturdiness of the brooch as well, 3 to 4 layers is what most are. I also used a bit of Collage Medium on the border parts to make sure they stayed in place with all the layers. On the two cat pieces I added green rhinestones behind the slit in their eyes. For the Deco Sheet detail parts like the witches hair and clothing, I just die cut the entire piece and cut around the parts I wanted and just stuck them on…same for the inside of the words. I just free hand cut the inside parts, fyi.

Once all the layers and pieces were on then I added the backing so that all the pieces are covered with metallic paper on the back and Kraft is not showing. For the pieces that won’t be showing on the back, you don’t need to add a backing of course, but make sure to add a bit of Collage Medium to those pieces to make sure they stay in place. I use Metallic Leafing Pens and permanent markers to color the sides to match the fronts so no Kraft paper was showing.

Here are the pieces with all the layers adhered up a little closer. I should have taken a picture of the backs as well, sorry. But they are just solid metallic paper with no detail parts. The pin will not be adhered until the very end.

Some of the Droplets were not the color I needed so I dyed them with Alcohol Ink. If I had to do a lot I used a cup with several drops of the ink, if only a little I just colored them directly with a Qtip. I did the same with plain clear rhinestones as well. Then I adhered all the bling with Glossy Accents. The bling takes a while to do, but it’s so worth it. 

For the wicked brooch and the spider web as well, I wanted Antiqued Gems hanging down. In order the color the stones inside the bezel, I used pliers to open them up to remove the gems. To color them without moving and touching them, I punched holes in a strip of paper with a regular hole punch and added feet below it with foam tape so it was raised up. Then I added the gems into the holes, and placed a drop or two of Alcohol Ink on them and let it dry. This worked perfectly.

For the mirrored hearts and stars I just dropped Alcohol Ink directly on them.

I mixed 1 ounce of Ice Resin as directed and poured it over the pieces on a baking cooling rack I have designated for Art, with a piece of wax paper underneath. I tried to do as heavy as a coating as I could and I kept these on the rack over night, moving them around every hour using a craft pick so they didn’t get stuck in place. By morning they were dry and not stuck in place. The bottle says they totally cure after 48 hours.

While the resin hardened I made pillow boxes with the words cut out in the centers to house most of the brooches but some are too big to fit. I added clear packaging material under the word opening.  For all the brooches I cut black tags to fit them and added Kraft colored words to the tags. Once the brooches were dry, I used pliers to bend the hook of pin in a little more so that there wasn’t more tension to secure the pin in the closure hopefully alleviating people from pulling on the pin too much to latch it. I added the pins to the back of each brooch so they wouldn’t be seen using lots of Glossy Accents. I also used tiny letter metal stamping punches and a Craft Hammer for my initials onto Metallic Kraftstock, and added those to the back of each piece for my maker marks, and then I coated the whole back with more Glossy Accents for added strength again, and let them dry. Once dry, I measured and marked where both ends of the back of the pin would be on the black tags and punch holes for them, and then used scissors to cut a line between the holes. The back of the pin just pushes through the line into the holes and stays in place. Then the card with the brooch fits into the pillow box, well at least the smaller ones anyway.
