Stamper's Anonymous Christmas 2021 - Plaid Jolly Santa Card

Hi Everyone and happy October! Here is a quick Christmas card made with the new  Jolly Santa Stamp Set from Tim Holtz and Stamper's Anonymous and using the Stripes Shifter Stencil to make a plaid background. Hope you enjoy!

For two cards use a full sheet of White Distress Heavystock, and secure it in place horizontally with Sticky Grid Tape or equivalent. Using the thinnest of the Stripes Shifter Layering Stencils, lay the stencil on the edge and secure it in place with tape, and while holding the other end with your hand to prevent it moving, ink in Salvaged Patina Distress Ink with an Ink Blending Tool from top to bottom, working in a straight line to keep the lines of the stencil from moving. Keep moving the stencil over until you've covered the paper all the way across. You do not need to do the bottom area of the paper. Remove the stencil and clean it. Place it back where you started and 'shift' it over covering up the first stripes inked in (this is why Tim says to paint in the shift lines before hand so you can see the lines easier to shift over.) and ink in the new stripes with Antique Linen Distress Ink the same way as you just did. Remove and clean the stencil as you are finished with this one. Give this paper a quick dry with a heat tool.

Turn the paper vertically and secure. Take the medium Stripes Shifter Layering Stencil and tape it in place. Ink in the same way as you did holding the stencil so the stripes don't move and inking in a straight line using Festive Berries this time. Keep moving the stencil over following the pattern. After the row is inked in, move the stencil down to lengthen the pattern and cover up the rest of the paper. You will not shift with this stencil so you can clean and put away. Give this a quick dry.

Turn the paper back horizontally and use a ruler and black Fude Ball Pen to draw lines down the middle of each Antique Linen stripe to continue the plaid pattern. Dry when finished. There are millions of plaid patterns you can create using these stencils, inks, and directions, so feel free to play.

Cut the plaid paper to have two pieces 5 x 6.5 inches. To distress the plaid paper for a more vintage look, use a paper scratcher working up and down the plaid stripes to make light scratches. Go over this with a bit of steel wool to soften the colors as well. Ink the edges and surface with Antique Linen Distress Ink. In the pic, the one on the left is not distressed and the one on the right is so you can see the difference. Take the telegram words from the Jolly Santa Stamp Set and stamp the image repeatedly down the left side of the plaid using Vintage Photo Archival Ink. Cut and fold kraft cardstock to 5.5 x 7 inches. Cut blue Metallic Kraftstock from Confections Kraftstock to 5 3/8 x 6 7/8 inches and mount on the kraft with two sided tape. Cut black cardstock to 5 1/8 x 6 5/8 and mount onto the center of the blue metallic. Set the card bases aside for now.

Using the stamp platform and Jolly Santa images stamp them on more White Heavystock...the Santa, Holiday Greetings, and December 25 using Black Soot and heat embossing with Clear Embossing Powder...Special Delivery and 2 for .25 using Festive Berries Distress Ink and heat embossing in Clear Powder...the sentiment and Christmas goods using Salvaged Patina Distress Ink and heat embossing in Salvaged Patina Embossing Glaze. Note: When I heat emboss with Distress Ink colors I often also stamp the last image (I like to stamp a few times for a nice crisp look.) using Distress Embossing Ink to make sure the powder sticks well, so that is why you see the pad in the picture.

Cut out all the pieces...straight cuts for the labels and using a medium circle punch to easily cut out the price seal, and cutting around sentiment and Santa leaving a slight border. Set Santa aside for now. Use Antique Linen Distress Ink and an Ink Blending Tool to ink the surface of all the pieces (except the Santa) for a nice aged look. Use Gathered Twigs on the edges of all the pieces except the sentiment. Set the sentiment aside with the Santa for now. Add two sided tape to the back of all the other pieces and adhere to the card front as shown. Use two sided tape to adhere the card front to the base card.

Using a Detail Water Brush and the silicon mat as your palette, use Distress Crayons to color in the Santa. I used Festive Berries for the hat and berries of holly, Tattered Rose for his face, Spun Sugar for his checks and lips, Hickory Smoke on the shadow lines of his beard and eyebrows, Speckled Egg on the shadow lines of the white parts of his hat, and Rustic Wilderness on the leaves of the holly. I color in softly first and then add a darker layer for shadows.

To make Santa look porcelain, use the Icicle Crackle Paste and a flathead paintbrush, and paint over the whole Santa liberally, especially on his face, and saving the hat and berries to paint over last as some parts might bleed a little (You can spray the Santa with Spray Fixative first to prevent this.). Clean the brush a little incase of bleed, and then paint over all the adhered label pieces on the card taking care not to get any on the plaid parts. Paint over the sentiment as well. Clean your brush well, and let all of these dry about 30 minutes to be safe. You can use a heat tool after about 10 minutes to help out the drying time if you wish. Once dry and crackled, you can use the Antique Linen and a blending tool to push the ink into the cracks to further distress and age the pieces if you wish. I did this to Santa's face and all the label pieces. Use a paper towel to wipe off any excess ink.

Using the same paintbrush, scoop out some Snowfall Grit Paste, and working a little at a time, brush the paste over Santa's hat parts that are supposed to be fluffy, brushing while pushing the paste in, working slowly to control where it goes. Once you have a thin layer on it's easier to add a thicker layer on top. Be careful not to cover up any of the holly berries and leaves. Let this dry. Add foam tape to the back of the Santa as well as the bottom parts of the sentiment, and adhere the Santa to the card front and the sentiment partially on the beard area with Collage Medium. Add dots of XMas Red Stickles to the berries. Let this dry. Ink the edges of the card with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

Stamper's Anonymous Halloween 2021 - Wicked Hipsters and Bold Frights Halloween Cards

October is almost here, and this is finally my last of the Halloween makes and my last Stamper's Anonymous Halloween project from the Tim Holtz Live! Talk about fun! These two, an old married couple, have unique personalities and just crack me up. She is loud and shrill and oh so fun, and he is dry and grouchy. They both have the best head of hair ever...oh my word do I love them! Enjoy!

Starting with the sentiments from Bold Frights for the cards first, stamp the sentiments onto Kraft Cardstock, using the Stamp Platform and Black Soot Archival, and immediately pour Clear Embossing Powder over and heat emboss. Cut the sentiments as shown so that the word 'Halloween' will make sense with the sentiment. Choose the words you want and the word 'Halloween' from the Chit Chat sets, ink the edges in Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, and stick them to black cardstock adding a little Collage Medium for extra adherence. Trim around them. Mount the 'Halloween' also on orange cardstock, and trim around it.

Cut a Kraft Heavystock card base to 4 x 9.25 inches when folded, times 2 if making both. Cut a black cardstock mat to 3.75 x 9 inches, 2 of them. Cut Watercolor Paper with a Deckle Trimmer to 3.5 x 8.75 inches, 2 of these. Set card bases and black mats aside for now. Plan out the cards by placing the sentiments and stamps from Wicked Hipsters where they will go so you know where to start stamping.

On the bumpier side of the Watercolor Paper, stamp the pearl necklace where it needs to go using the platform and Black Soot Archival, stamping a few times so the image is nice and crisp. Then stamp the bowtie on the other piece doing the same.

Place the lady hipster in the platform and stamp her above the necklace, only stamping once as this image will be covered up, except for the loose hairs around her head. Using another piece of Watercolor Paper, stamp her again, this time on the smooth side of the Watercolor, and stamping her a few times so the image is nice and crisp. Stamp the gent hipster above the bowtie once, and then again nice and crisp on the extra piece of Watercolor. Cut the couple out from the extra piece of Watercolor, and just cut around their heads, leaving the extra hairs and ends of the mustache off as they are too hard to cut anyway. Set those aside for now as you will be working on the card fronts first.

Ink around the Hipsters on the card fronts using Antique Linen Distress Ink and an Ink Blending Tool, trying not to get the ink on the bowtie and necklace. Flick water over the card fronts for water marks. Add Gathered Twigs Distress Ink straight from the pad on the silicon mat and mist a bit of water into it. Pick it up with a paint brush and flick this over the cards. Blot off any excess and let dry or use a heat tool.

Using the smallest Harlequin Shifter pattern in the trio of Layering Stencils (You can paint over the stencil in Black Soot to allow the paint to get in the recessed marks, wipe it off the top, and let dry, so you can see the marks easier for the shifting over of diamonds on the stencil.), lay it over the left side of one of the card fronts, and ink over the some of the diamonds randomly in Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink just so the diamonds are on the corner and down the side. It doesn't matter is you get the ink on the hipster, just don't get it on the bowtie or necklace. Do the same for the right side, and then the same on the other hipster card front. Clean the stencil of the excess orange ink with a damp paper towel. Place the clean stencil over the diamonds you just inked in, and move it over slightly, covering the orange diamonds with the solid parts of the stencil. Once those orange diamonds are covered, the other open diamonds need to be inked in with Black Soot Distress Ink, following the same direction as the other. Repeat on the other side and then the other card front. Clean the stencil. Ink the edges of both card fronts with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

Using two sided tape, adhere the card fronts to the black mats and then onto the kraft card bases. Ink the edges of the cards with Gathered Twigs. Ink the edges of the Bold Frights sentiments with Gathered Twigs and then adhere them onto the bottom left of the card fronts, leaving a small gap between the words. Adhere 'Halloween' to the middle of the small gap with foam tape. Use two sided tape or Collage Medium and adhere the group of words to the bottom (I was thinking the top first, and then changed my mind and added them to the bottom instead.) of the card under the large sentiment.

Using a small piece of acetate big enough for both pair of glasses, peel the top layer of protective coating off, and place the acetate (clean side up) in the platform. Place both pairs of glasses stamps over the acetate and close the lid to secure the stamps. Using Carved Pumpkin Distress Paint, add a drop of paint to the silicon mat, and pick it up with a clean foam on an Ink Blending Tool, working the paint in. Lightly pounce the paint on the women's glasses covering the raised image, and then stamp it onto the acetate. Repeat a few times until the glasses are nicely covered. Do the same with the men's glasses using Black Soot Distress Paint. When finished set these aside to dry, and remove the foams and clean with water to remove the paint and let them dry to use again.

Take the cut out hipsters and use Distress Crayons to color them in, using the silicon mat as a palette and a Water Brush to pick up the Crayon and color in. I used Pumice Stone for the hair, Hickory Smoke for the eyes and nose, Antique Linen and  Picket Fence for the face, teeth, and necklace with a little Picket Fence in the hair, and Carved Pumpkin for the bowtie and hair bow. Also color in the hair and mustache that will be seen on the card fronts. Using Mica Stain (shaken up first and then cleaning the nozzle before capping up) add a few drops to the silicon mat and using the Water Brush, pick up Empty Tomb and add it to the hair and mustache, Jack-O-Lantern to the bowtie and hair bow, and Crooked Broomstick to the hair and necklace for a little shine. Add Collage Medium to the back of the hipsters, and adhere them over the coordinating card fronts lining everything up. Take the glasses and peel off the back coating and add Collage Medium to the rims and adhere them on to each hipster. Use a white gel pen to add a few highlights to the hair.
