Wendy Vecchi Make the Most of It Roses in a Pot Card

Hello All!!! If you have visited here for a while now, you know how much I love and use Archival Ink. I rarely make anything without it...it's essential for me. So when Ranger releases a new color, I get excited. Wendy Vecchi just came out with three new colors, Periwinkle, English Ivy, and Goldenrod, (and three new colors a few months ago) and I of course had to have them, and made this quick card using them, and I challenged myself not to use black ink so the English Ivy did the trick.  Wendy also came out with three new colors of Liquid Pearls, coordinating with the inks. YUM!

Apply Periwinkle Archival Ink directly from the pad onto a craft mat, and mist liberally with 91% rubbing alcohol until ink is nice and beaded up. Take a piece of White Perfect Cardstock Panel and run it through the wet ink covering the panel completely. The ink should have a marbled look. Dry with a heat tool, and clean up the wet ink.

Place the panel into a stamp platform and add the roses stamp from the Rosy Art set, in the upper left corner and close the lid to secure the stamp. Stamp the image using English Ivy Archival, and then stamp the lower leaf portion again onto sticky note. Use scissors to cut the bottom leaf area out.

Place the sticky note leaves over the coordinating leaves on the panel. Add the pot from the Bold Floral Art Stamp Set to the panel below the roses so that the leaves will hang over the pot. Stamp the pot in Periwinkle Archival. Add Night Sky Archival to the border areas of the pot and stamp again, so that the pot has a darker border for a dimensional look.

Stamp the solid mini leaves around the plant about five times using English Ivy Archival, and then stamp the sentiment on an extra piece of Perfect Cardstock to use for later.

Take a rose cluster from the Rosy Art Coordinates Mat Minis, and ink over it with Goldenrod Archival and an ink blending tool. Lay the roses stamp image side up and ink over the roses using Goldenrod and then place the mat mini over the roses so they match up and press down to stamp the image.

Place the sticky note leaves back onto the leaf area and then use the matching pot stencil from Bold Floral Art to ink in Night Sky Archival along the top and bottom of the pot, each time matching up the stencil to the pot, and using the magnets from the Stay-tion to secure it and being careful not to get ink in another area.

Place the leaves portion of the stencil from the Rosy Art set over the coordinating leaves and ink over them using Prickly Pear Archival, each time moving the stencil to match the leaves, and using the magnets from the Stay-tion to secure it and being careful not to get ink in another area.

Using the Yikes Stripes Stencil, lay it over the panel and covering it completely, then lightly stencil in the stripes over the open areas using Periwinkle Archival. Ink around the border of the panel as well using Periwinkle.

Mount the panel onto dark green cardstock that matches the English Ivy Archival, but make the right side of the green cardstock about one inch longer, using two sided tape. Add the wide yellow striped Washi Tape to the right side of the panel matching it up to the right side of the green cardstock, and wrap the overhang around the back. Mount this onto a kraft cardstock base cut to 5 x 6 inches when folded, using two sided tape. Ink the edges of the card with Potting Soil Archival.

Use Perfect Card Adhesive to adhere the roses to the card. Use markers to color in the open area on the pot, as well as add some darker shadow areas to the roses. Use a white pen to add dots to the centers of the flowers on the pot, and some highlight areas on the roses. Add the sentiment to a piece of kraft cardstock, cut it out and ink the edges in Potting Soil Archival. Mount the sentiment onto the card front. Add a tiny amount of Periwinkle Liquid Pearls to the Stay-tion and pick up with a stylus and add dots to the tiny solid leaves and a trio of dots around the leaves. Do the same with Sunflower Liquid Pearls in the centers of the roses. Let dry.

Tim Holtz Sizzix Halloween 2021 - Autumn Leaves Metallic 3D Foliage Cards

Hello everyone, and sorry for the hiatus, but I've been off the charts busy. Today starts the first of five makes for the Tim Holtz Sizzix Halloween release. Did you happen to catch the Live yesterday? My head is still swimming with so much inspiration from the designers...just amazing out of this world projects. If you missed it, you can see the replay, and be prepared to be amazed! These cards were one of my favorite makes as I LOVE Autumn and all the colors of the season, and Alcohol Ink from Ranger makes that easy. I had such fun with the sentiments too, and my daughter joked that I was channeling my inner Walt Whitman...LOL...I think Autumn's leaves are it's costume for the season, don't you?!! Enjoy!

(Note: I made two cards, one using the debossed side of the 3D Texture Fade and one the embossed side just to see what each would look like. I planned to do the Enameled Metals technique or each to see which I would like better.) Cut two pieces of silver cardstock from Ranger or apply Adhesive Silver Foil to cardstock, about 4 1/4 x 5 7/8 or you can cut them to size later, just make sure they are big enough to cover the whole fade. Place the cardstock in the Foliage 3D Texture Fade and lightly mist with water and run through the machine three times. When doing the other piece, flip it over so the silver side gets impressed with the other side of the fade.

Using the Glass Mat for easy cleanup with alcohol or hand sanitizer, add Crimson, Sunset Orange, Dijon, and Willow Alcohol Inks to the felt of an Alcohol Ink Blending Tool, about a dime size each. Pounce this over each piece of the embossed silver cardstock, covering the whole piece so no silver shows. The colors will blend together nicely. Let these dry about 5 or 10 minutes before moving on.

To start the Enameled Metals Technique, use Ground Espresso Distress Paint and a paintbrush, and paint over one of the Alcohol inked panels, pushing the paint into all the crevices and debossed areas. Let this air dry a few minutes and then begin removing the paint from the surface with your finger and thumb like I do or a dry paper towel, leaving the paint in and around the embossing and revealing the Alcohol Ink on the surface. If you remove too much just add more paint. You want the paint to highlight every nook. You can lightly mist the paper towel to further remove the paint on the surfaces and bring back the shine of the metallic. Do the other panel and let these dry naturally about 30 minutes.

These is what both panels looked like after the paint was added. I was sure I would like the embossed leaves with the veins of the leaves debossed better than the other, but I ended up liking the other better, so I am glad I did both.

To complete the Enameled Metals Technique, lightly rub over the raised areas of the panels using the pad of a Distress Embossing Ink. Immediately pour Antique Linen Embossing Glaze over the panels and remove the extra. Use a paint brush to remove any you don't want and flick the bottom to remove any that way as well. Heat emboss these to melt the powder. Let cool as these are metal and stay hot longer. There might be some residue of the Embossing Ink on the panels as mine had, if so use a damp paper towel to clean the panels until the ink is gone. Trim the panels if need be to 4 1/4 x 5 7/8 inches if you haven't already. The Antique Linen gives these an even nicer amber color, and these panels look like real metal, and so sturdy as well. I love these so much that it was hard to cover up any of the leaves.

Fold a kraft card base to 5 x 6.5 inches, and use a Deckle Trimmer to trim off the long bottom edge slightly for a more distressed look. Ink the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and an Ink Blending Tool. Cut a dark brown cardstock mat to 4 5/8 x 6 3/6 inches and mount on the kraft card base with two sided tape. Cut Gold Kraft Stock to 4.5 x 6 1/4 inches, and mount onto the dark brown. Ink the edges heavily of the leaves panels and mount onto the gold. Use a little Collage Medium if needed to make sure all is adhered.

Using more Gold Kraft Stock, place it inside the Floral Frame 3D Impresslit and lightly mist with water before running through the machine three times. Do two, one for each card. To bring out the embossed design and to distress ink, apply more Ground Espresso Distress Paint to the frames and push in the paint. Let sit for a few minutes and wipe off until you like the look and all the design parts are highlighted by the paint. Let dry. Select the wording from the Curiosities Stickers that you want to use (This takes the longest as there are so many to use. Be as poetic as you want.), and mount these onto kraft cardstock. Cut out and ink the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. Apply Collage Medium to the back of the frame and adhere to the card front. Adhere the wording in the center of the frame.
