Ranger U....WOW!!!!

 

WOW...just WOW!!!! It all happened so fast. There really needs to be one or two more days added to the curriculum because there is so much to learn and do, and so little time. I liken it to going to Disney World the first time and trying to see and do it all in under a day...it just can't be done, and some parts were just as loud as being on a roller coaster! What a time though! My poor hands feel as if they have a hangover, and they secretly love it! I met some wonderful people as well, and the Ranger staff made us feel like royalty...a total class act!  Let's see if I can remember them all...Tammy, Patti, Rhonda, Christie, Lisa, Carolyn, Noell, Wendy, Mackie, Sue, Tina, Charlotte, Barbara, Tara, Aurea, Krista, Dene, Betty, Christy, Lynn, and the sweet girl from Michael's Craft store, whose name I shall shout out at 3 am after I can't sleep. I even had dinner with her...sorry. I was not fortunate enough to meet the other two...they escaped my path. I guess someone told them I might talk to them.

The new Spring Limited Distress Inks that I got off straight from the conveyor belt after being completed! Now how's that for fresh ink?!? The warehouse/factory tour was my favorite...I was in awe of those machines...wow!!!

I made several of these and attached them to bags of Texas Trash to give away. I am submitting this to Hels Sheridan's Sunday Stamper challenge for "reds". Hels, a former grad, has spurred me on so much during this endeavor of Ranger U! Thank you Hels!!! And so many other blog land babes have as well! Huge thanks being sent to all of you as well!!!

Just For Mom X 2!!!

Happy Saturday Crafty Folks!!! Today marks the start of a new challenge at Our Creative Corner.  Anne Marie Hile of Stampin' Anne, brings us this week's challenge of "a recipe for Mom",  for Mother's Day.  Create a project for Mother's Day using the following 'recipe': embossing (wet or dry), ribbon, buttons or brads, and watercoloring. I had to my make two cards...one for Mom and one for Mother In Law. This year I decided to make them the same card. And by the way, my mother is doing great. There is no cancer...sigh of relief and prayers answered!

Anyway, this card is probably a little too crazy for the both of them, but I bet they both will love it all the same.I just had to use this new stamp set I just purchased from Artistic Outpost called Flapper's Fashions. I think it is perfect for Mother's Day.

I stamped the AO images in Jet Black Archival onto watercolor paper.

I stamped the frame image in Distress Embossing Ink and heat embossed using Seafoam Embossing Powder.

I colored in the images with Distress Markers.

I inked the background with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. The Distress Markers resisted the ink. I spritzed water over the whole card, which gives a great bleached effect to the background and now the colored in images look watercolored.

I stamped the bubble wrap image using Worn Lipstick Distress Ink, and the Flapper definition using Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

I stamped the lady in Jet Black Archival and colored her in using Distress Markers, but this time I will not watercolor them. I cut them out and adhered them to the center of the frame.

I stamped the sentiment in the corner using Jet Black, and then mounted this on black embossed cardstock that I heavily distressed first. I added Worn Lipstick Distress ReInker to water and misted a white cardstock card for the main body. I also colored a piece of seam binding with Distress ReInker and misted it well before wadding it up and drying it. The seam binding was used as an anchor to hold down the ornate plate. The sentiment in the plate was computer generated and coated in Crackle Accents. All edges were also inked in Pumice Stone. Buttons and faux stitching were added as well.

I am also submitting this to the Stamp Man Challenge for "shabby chic or distressed style". Mine would probably qualify for both.

Vintage Business Card Holder

Earth Day (April 22) just came and went (also my birthday...woohoo), and I am hosting the new fortnightly challenge at Frilly & Funkie, so I decided to center the theme around this important yearly event (sadly, not the birthday). The challenge was and still is "RePurpose to UpCycle". We all live on Mother Earth and have to do our part to keep her healthy, not just on Earth Day but always. As paper crafters it's very important not to waste much. For this challenge, use at least two repurposed items to create an upcycled paper project, and don't forget to list what they are. Extra kudos to you if you can depict Mother Earth in some way as well.
Last week the Frilly's showed you what they created, so now it's the Funkie's turn (one is me). I decided to go for a vintage business card holder. I am headed to Ranger U tomorrow, so this might come in handy with all the new people I am about to meet. 

I used a left over painted Altoid's tin (remember the sewing kits?).

I also used packaging to make the inside inserts of the tin.

I am submitting this tin to the Compendium of Curiosities II Challenge #2 of "faux patina", an awesome Tim technique.

12 Tags of 2012 - April

I just loved Tim's April tag! The bird hanging over the edge and set affront the reflections image...brilliant, he certainly is! I wish I had the reflections stamp he used, but I didn't...yes shocking, I know....so I improvised. I used Wendy's letter image stamp, and just stamped it directly to the tag. It's sort of cheating I guess, but I also didn't have the texture fade I wanted either, since I use jumbo tags. I needed one to fit, and this Frame was all I had. I also wanted the blue in the bird to pop, so I added more blue extras.

I am also submitting this tag to Simon Says Stamp & Show's challenge of "favorite word", and the Sunday Stamper's challenge of "summer colors".
