Let Them Eat Cake!

 Everyone should have cake on their birthday, even if you are on a diet! However, if you are one of those who never eat sweets or cakes kind of person, then maybe you can just admire this cake and smell the roses! I created this card specifically for Our Creative Corner's Challenge "photo inspiration - baby shower". You chose at least two details from the photo and create a project around them. I decided to go with the coral and turquoise colors, the flowers, and of course, cake. I love cake! I love baking cakes! I love decorating cakes! I love eating cake! I love giving someone a cake I made! And now I love creating paper cakes! Who knew...I just wish I could eat it!?! 
I am also submitting this card to the Lisa Somerville's Blogger's Challenge "texturize it". There's a lot of texture going on here! I am super proud of how my bottle came out. This faux vintage glass look technique is from Wendy Vecchi, but I tweaked it some. I wanted to recycle and I didn't have any empty, unused glass bottles, so I used an empty "plastic" matte medium bottle. I applied Gesso instead of Glue N Seal, and after crackling, I used Distress Ink instead of Distress Stain, but still the same principle. I love this! That Wendy is a smart, crafty cookie!
Remove label and lid cap and wash thoroughly. Apply a layer of Gesso and let dry.
Apply a very heavy layer of Distress Crackle and let air dry. Apply Distress Ink to cracks and work in really well.
Reduce, reuse, recycle! Here's the package from the Prima flowers. I love the color and images on their packaging.
Use Watermark Reist (love this stuff) and stamp images on craft card.
Do the same on the Prima packaging. Ink all edges with Distress Ink.
Stamp writing image on flower petals with Distress Ink, and apply metallic paint dabber to the edges of the petals.
Cut bottle in two, and save the other half for another project. Tie ribbon on and add flowers and embellishments.
For the cake, I used Espresso and Bronze Paint Dabbers to stamp the image. The cake plate was covered in Crackle Accents and the cake in Rock Candy Distress Stickles. Liquid Perfect Pearls makes the decorative border on the cake layers. A long bead and wire cord are used to make the candle. I added Dew Drops for the cake plates feet and a piece of ribbon for the doily. More Dew Drops are used on the vase and embellishment in the flower bouquet. The sentiment is stamped in Distress Ink, heat embossed, and Crackled. A decorative border of Liquid Pearls is added.

Hot Air Balloon Heart

Amour c'est magnifique! So true, so true! I love Love! Valentine's Day is a fun day to show love to your peeps, but actually we should show it everyday. Here is a card that can be used at any time of year and not just Valentine's. All the stamped images are from the Artistic Outpost's Paris Exposition stamp set. I love all the images on this set, but I really have a thing about hot air balloons. They have always fascinated me. I think the two balloons eluding to a heart works well here, even though it's not perfectly shaped. I had a super fun time dressing up Madame. She was very cooperative and seemed to enjoy modeling for me. She finally choose the vintage, zebra printed, mink stole with diamond brooch brad. And, as she has the perfect shaped head for millinery, she had to have this black burlap cloche because it donned a huge, handmade, red grosgrain rose, even Coco would approve!

The balloons were stamped on transparency with StazOn and colored in with permanent marker. The Eiffel Tower is stamped with Distress Ink and crackled over, along with the Amour. All the background images on the craft paper are Distress Ink stamped and heat embossed with clear UTEE. Watercolor pencils were used on Madame and the sky, and all of Madame's make-up was done with Glaze Pens, as well as her gorgeous blue eyes. Distress Ink borders all of the cardstock. I created the rose by tying lose knots in the ribbon and gathering it into a circle, finally adhering it at the bottom.
