Wendy Vecchi Thanks A Latte Pop Up Gift Card Holder Card

Happy March everyone! This year seems to be flying by for me. Today, I have a card that houses a pop up gift card holder using the new Stamp, Stencil, and Die Set "Let's Shop" from Wendy Vecchi and Ranger Ink. She also came out with three gorgeous new colors of Archival Ink, one of which I used on this card.  This is a long post for such a small card, so grab snacks. Enjoy!

Using Kraft Cardstock, die cut two of the gift card sacks from the Let's Shop set. Add a strip of the white dots on green Washi Tape to a piece of Kraft Cardstock, and die cut the scallop piece. Add the gift card sacks to the Stay-tion and place the dots part of the stencil over the bag where it matches up, and secure with the magnets. Ink over the dots with the new Mulberry Archival using the NEW Domed Ink Blending Tool. LOVING this new style on the tool, makes things smoother I think.  Do the same to the other gift bag.

 Mount the scalloped piece on black cardstock and cut out. Place the gift bag stamp in the platform and stamp the image in Jet Black Archival onto both of the coordinating die cut pieces. Use a white pen to trace around the dots.

 

 Add thin two sided tape to the three tabs of one of the gift bags on the very inside so that when placed together they form a sort of gusset between the bags. Adhere the gift bags together. Ink the edges of the bag with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. Place the gift card inside to make sure you have a good fit. Adhere the scallop to the bottom part of the front of the bag.

 

Cut a Kraft Cardstock base card to 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches. Cut a strip of Kraft to 1 x 4 inches. Fold it in half and then each end piece about 1/2 inch in so it looks like a triangle for the pop up. 

 

 Add two sided tape to the small folded tabs on the bottom parts, but don't remove the adhesive strips yet. Add two sided tape to one of the side pieces, and adhere that to the middle of the bottom portion on the back of the gift card sack so it is flush.

 Adhere the small tabs to the open card base along the fold of the inside of the card so that the fold line is in the middle, and when the card is closed the gift bag is centered on the inside and hidden. 

 

 This is what it should look like from the front. 

For the coffee cup, place a piece of white Perfect Cardstock panel on the Stay-tion and lay the striped portion of the stencil over it and secure with the magnets. Ink over the stripes with Mulberry Archival and the Domed Ink Tool. Stamp the coffee cup over the stripes in Jet Black as well as the sentiment and cut the cup out. 

 

You can use the coordinating die cut to cut the cup out, but since the stripes are over the border of the stamping I wanted a cleaner look. You can use a hole punch in the center to help cut inside the handle more easily. Color in the coffee portion with a brown marker. 

 

 Adhere the coffee cup to the gift bag above the scallop with Perfect Card Adhesive. Carefully stamp the heat waves above the cup in Jet Black. Add tissue paper around the card and slip back in for a more realistic looking gift sack.  

 

 

Cut a piece of White Perfect Cardstock Panel to 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches. Using a craft mat or Glass Mat, apply Leaf Green and Mulberry Archival directly to the mat straight from the pad randomly in a few spots. Mist this liberally with 91% rubbing alcohol from a sprayer (NOTE: I keep one sprayer with water and one with alcohol, and it has tape around the bottom so that I know it's alcohol.). Take the white cardstock and tap it into the wet ink several times until it's mostly covered or until you like the look. Since this is not Specialty Stamping Paper the inks will not run and blend together, instead they stay put right where you tapped them on. It makes for a great speckled look. Let this dry a minute or so (or use a heat tool) and then ink over any white areas with Peat Moss Archival and an ink blending tool.  

 

 

 Lay the stencil over the inked cardstock, and randomly ink in portions of the dots with Mulberry, and portions of the stripes with Leaf Green, cleaning the stencil in between with the alcohol as Archival is permanent and water won't work. Do two to three places with each design and color. 

 

 

 Using the white pen trace around the circles and outline one side of each stripe. Add a strip of the same Washi Tape to the bottom portion, wrapping the extra overhang around the back. Place this in the platform and stamp the sentiment above the Washi in the center. Ink the edges of the panel with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, and mount on black cardstock cut just a tiny bit bigger than the panel with two sided tape. Doodle around the edge to make an even stronger border with a black pen. Mount this to the card front with two sided tape. Doodle around the border on the inside of the card as well to finish it off.
