Creativation 2017 Ranger Designer Challenge

The Evolution of Tim Holtz Distress was the Ranger Designer Challenge this year at Creativation.  What a great idea and theme! I was deeply honored to have been asked by Tim to participate, and my product challenge given was Distress Mica Spray. There are too many Distress products to name, and I could have used any of them as I love them all, but loved this particular challenge. Since the colors are Antiqued Bronze, Tarnished Brass, and Brushed Pewter, I stayed with that metallic palette, and added some Peacock Feathers as well. Can you believe I didn't use reds?!! I almost did. I have 27 step out photos, as this took me almost a week to complete, but I've only included some of the most important today...sorry. I went with a World Peace theme, since the state of world is chaotic right now, and planned everything around my sentiment...

Like the flowers,
we should all be instruments of
peace.
Where there is hatred,
we should all sow seeds of
love.
If these actions are done,
we shall all see an Earthly garden of
joy.
It's hard to see all the elements involved with so much going on, but the step out photos I've chosen will hopefully add some insight into everything.,
I used black gesso on the background first, and then used Wendy's new  Rectangle Frame Stitching Stencil to mark off my holes.
Then I drilled each hole with a very small bit.
I added Peacock Feathers Distress Paint over the gesso, and then sanded areas for a distressed look. Then I pounced over some Alcohol Ink. I stenciled over the whole tag with various stencils and each of the colors of Distress Mica Spray, and then added stenciling with Archival Ink. Then I sealed the whole thing with Distress Micro Glaze...oh the sheen.
I hand stitched the whole border with Tim's new Craft Thread from Coats and Clark.
I make the blocks...hard to notice them as I used every inch of space...I used Grunge Board and Burlap.
I die cut circles for the borders of the blocks and added Grunge Board letters.
I die cut the globe world piece with burlap and made it into a block.
The finished blocks, with lots of Mica Spray. I love how they came out, and it's a shame you can hardly see them.
I cut out all of my favorite children from packs of Found Relatives.
I used Peacock Feathers Paint and all the colors of Mica Spray for the gears.
Here is the layout before all the pieces went on.
I used Eileen Hull's new Twist and Style Tool from Sizzix to make the vines.
Then I made lots and lots of roses from Tim's Tiny Tattered Florals die and Distress Cardstock sprayed with Mica. Everything was adhered with Multi Matte Medium.
